This provision is good
The childminder has made good progress since her last inspection. She makes precise observations of children in their play and monitors their progress well. She uses this information successfully to plan stimulating experiences and activities, which supports children's strong progress. The childminder is skilled at interacting with the children. They develop good communication and language skills, and are very confident and sociable. Children demonstrate high levels of self-esteem and thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder. They freely access resources from the wide range of activities on offer, supporting their independence and imaginative skills effectively. Children form close emotional attachments with the childminder and have good relationships with their friends. The childminder meets children's emotional needs well. Children behave well. The childminder recognises their achievements. She is an

effective role model and reminds children of rules in the setting, which they listen to and follow.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities to extend children's understanding of numbers and counting even further, to offer greater mathematical challenges. Occasionally, the childminder misses some opportunities to further engage parents in activities to support the children's learning at home.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the impact of teaching on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and talked with the children. The inspector looked at a selection of documentation. The inspector discussed self-evaluation and observations of the children's play, learning and progress with the childminder and evaluated an activity with her. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers, provided in their written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Since the last inspection, the childminder has successfully developed procedures to support children's safety and well-being. For example, suitability checks have been completed for household members. The childminder has established good links with other settings the children attend and this helps to support consistency in their learning. The childminder has developed self-evaluation procedures well to address areas for improvement. She finds out information effectively from parents about what children can do from the start and reviews her planning. She monitors the children's progress well overall to extend their learning. The childminder keeps up to date with practice and attends training. This has strengthened her knowledge of children's health development and enhanced the quality of her teaching. The childminder provides good support for her assistant to help them understand their responsibilities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder effectively supports children's learning and has a good knowledge of how they learn. For example, she is attentive and skilfully engages children and facilitates activities to enable them to express their ideas. Children are confident with their language and ask questions well to help identify the missing object in the memory game. The childminder encourages children to be creative and to solve problems with good support. For instance, children consider how to attach a box to the recycling lorry to enable them to sit together. The childminder encourages the children's interest in numbers well overall. Children show they can confidently count low numbers. For example, they count their fingers and begin to relate small numbers to the objects.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children show good independence with their personal care and well-being. They recognise their individual flannels and confidently wipe their hands after snack. Children have a good awareness of potential hazards. For instance, they hold the banister and the childminder carefully supervises them on the stairs. Children show care for the environment and cooperatively help to tidy away the toys. The childminder explains the consequences of their actions and effectively engages them in road safety procedures. Children benefit from physical exercise and fresh air. For instance, they engage in walks, use the equipment outside and at the park to develop their physical skills well with the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are keen and enthusiastic to learn. For example, they make creative potions and engage in experiments. They are sociable and develop good skills in preparation for early writing. For example, they use tools to make marks and become familiar with letter sounds. Children are happy and demonstrate good concentration skills. They confidently engage in activities, participate in games, and enjoy literature and listen to stories well. Children develop good skills in preparation for their next stage in learning and in readiness for school.
