The childminder has built close partnerships with parents. She frequently shares the assessments of children's learning with them. The childminder shares ideas that parents can use at home to further support their children's development. Children settle very quickly into the childminder's care. They build close bonds with the childminder and the other children in her setting. The childminder provides praise and encouragement which helps to raise children's self-esteem and confidence. The childminder supports children's speech and language development well. She talks to children about what they are doing and repeats words to reinforce their pronunciation. p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not fully seek information from parents about what children already know and can do when they first start to help assess their starting points. Although the childminder shares some information with other settings children attend, she does not do this regularly enough to make sure they can build continuously on the learning that takes place elsewhere.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through reading written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding about the signs and symptoms of abuse. She knows the procedures to follow and who to contact with any such concerns. The childminder evaluates her practice effectively. She gathers the important views of parents and children and includes their ideas into her plans for further improvements. This helps to maintain the good outcomes for children. The childminder attends opportunities for professional development and training. She uses the information she gains to further develop her own skills and understanding. The childminder frequently evaluates the assessments of children's learning and progress to identify any areas for further support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses the assessments and observations of children's development to identify their next steps in learning. Children are provided with a range of opportunities that supports their early writing skills. They enjoy creating pictures using a range of equipment, including paint and pencils. Children's mathematical skills are supported by the childminder. For example, they enjoy counting the number of trains they have and how many pieces of fruit they gather in their shopping basket. Children delight in joining in with singing their favourite songs. They enthusiastically do the actions to songs and eagerly choose from a range of instruments to play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. The childminder provides clear and consistent messages that quickly support their understanding about how to be kind to one another. Children develop their independence from a young age. For example, they enjoy tidying away toys when they have finished playing. The childminder promotes good hygiene practices and children know to wash their hands before eating. She talks to children about the food they eat, which helps support their understanding about healthy eating. Children take part in activities linked to different festivals. This helps support their knowledge about the similarities and differences between each other.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are eager learners and enjoy exploring the wide range of activities available. They develop their imaginative skills. For example, they take the toy babies for a walk and the childminder talks to them about where they are going. Children make good progress in their development. They quickly learn the skills ready for their next stage in learning and for their move on to school.
