p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. Staff show an excellent knowledge of procedures they must follow if they are concerned about a child's welfare and are vigilant in their practice. For example, staff ensure registers are correctly maintained, check the identification of all visitors to the premises and complete risk assessments. The manager and staff share the same vision of offering the highest levels of care. Staff attend training opportunities which have a significant impact on the time children spend at the club. For example, staff have recently completed training on the early years foundation stage which has helped them to understand the needs of younger children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff have an excellent knowledge of children's needs and interests and plan a range of activities to support children to develop new skills. They complete robust observations of children's play and track children's progress to identify potential gaps. These are shared with teaching staff so that all professionals can support children's next steps in learning. Staff are skilful communicators and are very good at adapting their interactions to support children's interests. For example, older children enjoy making dens and independently acting out scenarios, while staff support younger children to use scissors as they make models. Children are very engaged in all the activities and access them with excitement and enthusiasm. Staff are considering further ways of enhancing the outdoor environment.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

All children are extremely relaxed and settled. Children's views are sought to help to plan activities that support children's interests. As a result, children lead their own play and access resources with enthusiasm. Staff are first-class role models and nurture children's needs exceptionally well. For example, they offer encouragement and reassurance if required. Children's behaviour is superb. They have exceptional manners. For example, children discuss why they cannot interrupt adults if they are talking. Children explore different concepts and the wider world. They have recently been talking about bullying and the dangers of using the internet. There is an excellent key-person system in place and children have built strong attachments with staff. Children are confident communicators and designate each other roles and are patient with one another as they have different ideas within role-play scenarios. Activities present children with challenge
