This provision is good
Leaders are highly effective in their recruitment and vetting procedures. This enables them to ensure that staff are suitable, qualified and committed to providing good- quality care. They are highly ambitious for the children and are focused on improving standards for all. Children are happy, behave well and have secure relationships with staff and each other. For example, children share their dough, take turns to collect water and respond positively to patient and gentle encouragement. Children make very good use of the newly developed outside play area. For example, children use the mud kitchen and the water wall to experiment and expand their imaginations and their enjoyment of learning. Staff encourage children to discuss their play and engage them in meaningful discussions about their learning. Partnerships with parents are strong and this supports children's learning at the setting and at home.
p.1
This provision is good
Parents and children are extremely receptive to speaking with unfamiliar adults. Children develop confidence and independence. For example, they choose the activity they want to play with and settle quickly to their chosen tasks.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff miss some opportunities to use their good knowledge of teaching techniques to enhance and extend children's language during adult-planned activities. Assessment is not precise enough to ensure that planning for children's next steps in learning is consistently effective.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

improve opportunities for all children to make their contributions during adult-led activities so that they make better progress in their communication and language ensure assessments of children's learning are precise enough to ensure planning for their next steps is consistently effective.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning and development, indoors and outdoors. The inspector spoke to members of staff and children and held meetings with the leadership team. The inspector carried out a tour of the premises and carried out joint observations with the manager. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection. The inspector also took account of written testimonials and questionnaires received on the day of the inspection. The inspector examined children's records, planning documents, evidence of the suitability of staff working in the provision and a range of other documents, including policies, risk assessments and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Leaders give maximum priority to keeping children safe. For example, leaders are effective in monitoring the whereabouts of children, staff and visitors at all times. Staff have a comprehensive understanding of reporting procedures and know how to protect the welfare of children. Safeguarding is effective. The leadership team has established very good partnerships with parents, local communities and other providers. For example, staff work with a range of teachers to observe and implement effective teaching methods, enabling children to learn about their natural environment. Leaders communicate their high expectations to all and encourage staff to constantly develop their knowledge and skills. For example, staff receive high-level support, training and supervision and this contributes to realising good outcomes for children. The ambitious and determined leadership team accurately evaluates the provision, allowing parents, children and staff to

provide their views. For instance, they all feedback that they would like the plans to improve the outside learning space to continue.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The well-qualified staff team supports children to make good progress in their learning and development. For example, staff observe children to monitor and plan for their progress. They provide a wealth of curious, thought-provoking objects and activities to inspire children's curiosity. For example, babies explore a range of different items to develop their sensory skills. Toddlers use an assortment of different materials to create their pictures. Older children listen to inspiring interactive stories told to beating drums, which engages their curiosity and broadens their knowledge of other cultures. Children have good opportunities to develop their early literacy, mathematics and communication skills. For example, they read the copious labels all around the setting and they self- register on arrival each day. Parents know, and are happy with, what their children are learning. For instance, parents receive information through children's daily diaries and

individual learning logs, and have the opportunity to respond.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff provide stimulating opportunities to develop children's imagination, curiosity and physical skills. For example, children build their coordination and spatial awareness skills in the well-resourced garden. They run, make mud and magic wands. Children use the water wall to pour, measure and compare different amounts. They use large wooden bricks to build houses. Staff are particularly focused on ensuring all children, including babies, settle quickly when they first attend the setting. Staff provide abundant praise, guidance and positive comments which help to successfully support children's very good self-esteem, positive attitudes and good behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are inquisitive and eager to learn. They attain the skills that prepare them well for transition to school and from one room to the next in the nursery. Younger children share what they know. For example, toddlers keenly discuss work they have done about the 'stick man'.
