This provision is good
The environment is safe and secure for children. The childminder uses risk assessments to identify and minimise any hazards. The childminder and her co-childminders deploy themselves carefully when the children are playing so that they are always monitored. Children show a genuine affection for the childminder and her co-childminders and go to them for comfort and support. They show they feel safe and emotionally secure. The childminder ensures good hygiene practices are observed and children develop an understanding of routine activities. For example, children wash their hands before eating snacks and meals. The childminder is warm and welcoming and she works in a homely environment. The toys and equipment are organised well. Children confidently explore the broad range of accessible resources and activities and make independent choices in their play. The childminder has developed strong partnerships with parents. She provides them

with detailed daily feedback to help keep them informed and involved in their children's progress. Parents comment, 'I have peace of mind my child is properly cared for'. The childminder has good working relationships with other settings the children attend. She shares regular information about children's development and next steps with them to ensure consistency.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of activities with the childminder. The inspector held several discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder can recognise the signs and symptoms of possible abuse. She is aware of the procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. The childminder works well with her co- childminders and assistant by working alongside them and sharing information about children's learning. Furthermore, supervisory meetings provide opportunities to share issues on a one-to-one basis. The childminder uses a range of suitable policies and procedures to underpin her good practice. The childminder thinks about the service she provides. She asks parents and children for their opinions so she can consider their views when making plans for improvement.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes the children and uses the information she gathers to identify their next steps in learning. This helps her to plan activities based on children's interests and learning needs. The childminder introduces opportunities for children to develop their mathematical skills as they play. For instance, she asks questions that help children to compare height and space as they construct towers, roads and garages with bricks. The childminder communicates with dialogue and questions and interacts well with children during their play, helping them to develop good language and social skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The children visit the setting with their parents before starting their placement. This helps to support children to settle and become familiar with their new environment. Children's behaviour is good. Children of all ages play harmoniously together and involve each other enthusiastically in their play. The childminder promotes a healthy lifestyle. Children benefit from eating a range of healthy fruit at snack time. As well as playing daily in the garden, children walk to and from school, this contributes to them getting fresh air and physical exercise. In addition, they regularly attend a playgroup where they have opportunities to socialise within a larger group of children. The childminder encourages children to be independent and to do things for themselves. For example, when they come to her to put their wellingtons on she suggests, 'I know you can do it'.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Assessments show that all children are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age. Furthermore, they all make good progress from their starting points, including those who receive funded education. Children develop vivid imaginations when they pretend to be ghosts and chase their friends. Children enjoy listening to stories, they interact with books, pointing at the pictures. This contributes to their literacy skills. Children enthusiastically follow the actions to songs and rhymes, this helps to develop their expressive arts. Children prepare well for school and gain some necessary key skills for their next steps in learning.
