This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified and experienced. She consistently reflects on the service she provides to ensure it is of a good quality for the children in her care. She uses observations and assessments of children at play to plan activities and experiences that meet their individual needs effectively. The childminder fosters children's emotional well-being effectively. Children very quickly settle and swiftly become active learners. Children are self-confident and show their strong attachments with the childminder. The childminder promotes children's health and physical development extremely well. They learn how to adopt good hygiene practices, such as hand washing after the toilet and before eating meals and snacks. The childminder arranges the environment so that children can make choices in their play. She provides a stimulating range of resources to help children explore, create and

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home and jointly evaluated these with her. The childminder spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector viewed the premises, toys and equipment. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and discussed self-evaluation. She looked at evidence of the suitability of adults in the family home. The inspector took account of the views of parents in written form during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of child protection issues. For example, she knows what to look for if a child is suffering abuse or neglect. She knows the procedure to follow if she has a concern. The childminder carries out daily checks to ensure the home is safe and secure. Partnerships with parents are very good. Feedback consists of extremely positive comments. For example, parents describe the childminder as being professional and knowledgeable and providing exceptional care in a home-from-home environment. The childminder has successfully developed good links with local schools. She has plans in place to make links with other childcare providers that children are due to attend.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's interactions with children are supportive and caring. She is encouraging and, overall, extends their curiosity and learning. She provides children with lots of choices and helps them to build their imaginative skills. For example, children select dressing-up costumes and talk about characters in books. Younger children play with dolls and pretend they are babies, feeding and caring for them. The childminder promotes early literacy skills with older children effectively. For example, she points and sounds out the letters of words as they play. The childminder successfully monitors children's development. This helps to ensure that any gaps in development are swiftly identified.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a very good role model for children. She praises their kindness and teaches them to share, take turns and play together. Children's behaviour is very good. They are extremely relaxed and happy in her care. Children's independence is promoted particularly well. This is reflected in how well children competently attend to their own personal needs. The childminder provides good opportunities for children to develop their social skills. For example, she takes them to different groups where they interact and mix with other children and adults. In addition, they have ample opportunities to benefit from lots of fresh air and exercise in a well-resourced outdoor environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in their learning and development. They are acquiring the skills needed to support them in preparation for nursery and on to school. They are confident, relaxed and happy. Younger children's speech, language and early mathematical skills are developing quickly. For example, they confidently count in sequence. Young children comment on how their heart goes 'boom boom'. Older children have a wealth of opportunities to develop their literacy skills. An abundance of well-chosen books is available to keep children motivated and stimulated in areas that particularly interest them.
