This provision is good
Children have developed a strong relationship with the childminder. She is very aware of their unique needs and children are well cared for. Children settle quickly and feel secure in her home. The childminder offers a broad range of activities that provides the children with challenge. She is flexible in her approach to activities. She follows the children's interests and skilfully incorporates learning. Children are engaged and motivated to learn. The childminder has high expectations of the children and what they can achieve. Children learn to become independent from a young age and make good progress. Assessment of children's learning is thorough. The childminder has a sound knowledge of what the children can do and the next stage in their learning. She identifies gaps in learning and with the support of parents helps children to catch up quickly.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the setting. The inspector looked at samples of children's records and other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' views through written feedback provided on the day.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder shows a strong desire to improve. Recent evaluation, taking into account the views of the parents, has seen her change her methods of assessment. Parents are now better informed on their child's development and there is a consistent approach to their learning. The childminder is committed to her own professional development. She has attended many training courses. Recent training has seen the enhancement of children's literacy skills and understanding of the world through introducing puppets to story time. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of child protection and what she should do if she has concerns about a child in her care. She teaches children how to keep themselves safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a rich learning environment, indoors and outdoors. Children also benefit from trips to local parks and gardens to enhance their learning. The childminder makes her own resources tailored to the unique learning needs of the children. For example, she has made games to develop early mathematical skills, such as counting, number recognition and forming patterns. Methods of teaching are good. For example, the childminder encourages children to 'have a go' for themselves. When they cannot achieve what they set out to do she verbally guides them to help them reach their full potential. The childminder encourages children to problem solve and think critically. For example, she encourages children to work out the answer themselves by asking them questions. The childminder has good relationships with the parents. She frequently holds events and celebrations where parents are invited to join her and the children in her home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has a calm nature and she is very reassuring towards the children. The children are happy and confident in her home. The childminder is a good role model. Children behave well and show respect towards the childminder and their peers. Children develop their social skills through games. For example, the children learn to share and take turns as they learn the rules of snap. The childminder builds the children's confidence through frequent praise and encouragement. Children learn to take care of their environment. For example, they tidy up together, working as a team. The childminder provides healthy home-cooked food for the children, supporting them to make healthy choices.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in all areas of learning. They are meeting the milestones typical for the age. Children leave the childminder well prepared for the next stage in their learning. They learn skills that help them become ready for school, such as dressing independently for outdoor play. Children are developing their early mathematical skills, such as sorting and ordering objects by size.
