This provision is good
Relationships between the staff, parents and children are positive. Children settle well and make friends to play with. Staff praise children and offer them reassurance as they learn new skills. Children develop a good sense of belonging and behave well. Staff know how children learn and develop through play. Children make good progress in relation to their development on entry to the nursery. Staff prepare children well for the next stages in their learning, including starting school. Children enjoy a wide range of activities to help them learn about their own identity and the different cultures around them. For example, children enjoy multicultural stories and learn words from different languages. Staff work well with parents and outside professionals to ensure that children receive the right support they need. Parents appreciate the warm care and support they receive from staff and the good progress their children make.

p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, staff do not provide enough opportunities for older children to develop their physical skills to an even higher level. Occasionally, staff miss some opportunities to encourage children to develop their early writing skills.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in all parts of the nursery, including the outdoor provision. The inspector spoke to some members of staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection and held meetings with the management team. The inspector carried out joint observations with the manager. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection and reviewed parents' written comments and suggestions. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The managers conduct vetting checks on all staff to ensure that they are suitable to work with children. Staff have a good understanding of safeguarding practices and they follow the correct procedures to protect children in their care. Managers support staff well, supervise and guide them to develop further the quality of their practice. Managers and staff check the progress of all children so that they can easily identify any who are falling behind in their learning. Staff successfully provide well- targeted support to help close any gaps in children's learning. They attend extra training to strengthen their skills. This is evident in the way, for example, they interact with children and help develop their speaking and listening skills well. Staff work effectively with other providers when the time comes for children to move on. Managers take into account the views and suggestions of staff, parents, children and others to provide a good
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff use information they obtain from parents to establish children's starting points. They assess children's learning regularly and provide a range of activities and resources to enthuse children to learn. Staff explain activities well to children and show them how to use resources safely. Children are well motivated to join in play. For example, children use scissors safely, cut around pictures and shapes neatly, and create imaginative collages of their choice. They roll play dough, mould and cut it into different shapes. Young children enjoy role play. They pretend to cook with fresh vegetables and name their colours. Staff encourage children to take part in stories. Children confidently talk about their favourite pictures and characters and suggest what might happen next.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff support children's social and emotional skills to good effect. For example, they share their expectations of behaviour with children and help them understand what is right and wrong. Children learn to share resources fairly and take turns. Staff help children learn about the importance of healthy eating and meet their dietary requirements well. For instance, children know that eating fruit and drinking milk will help them grow and develop. Young children learn to socialise with others and enjoy the time to eat with their friends. Staff undertake regular and robust checks on the premises and resources, to ensure children can engage in indoor and outdoor activities safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and any gaps in their learning are closing. Young children learn to listen carefully and respond well to instructions. Older children can count, sort and match objects. They use good mathematical language to describe shapes of objects around them. Children enjoy playing with role-play dinosaurs, imitating how dinosaurs move. They are aware of the changes that happen to the weather around them and keenly put their coats on before they go outside to play.
