p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder reflects exceptionally well on her service and takes into consideration the views of children and parents to make any changes or improvements. For example, she has recently developed the way she plans for children, following their lead in play and providing challenging and exciting activities to support their learning. Professional development is very important to the childminder. She regularly attends training to develop her practice, such as positive behaviour management. She plans to develop this further by attending more courses to enrich her knowledge of how to support children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is highly effective at identifying risks and teaches children how to keep themselves safe. For example, when on outings in the local community, children sing a song to support them in learning about road safety.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder is a highly skilled communicator and listens perceptively to children. She actively engages them in high-quality interactions and very skilfully extends their learning and development. The childminder puts great thought and effort into providing experiences that successfully capture children's imaginations. For example, she provides puppets for young children to retell their favourite stories and encourages them to give their own endings to help develop their learning. Very accurate observations and assessments, and the childminder's extremely high expectations of all children, support her to plan highly stimulating activities. For example, children explore ice and are encouraged to think critically and solve problems as they try different tools and tactics to melt the ice.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children flourish in the childminder's care. She supports children's emotional security extremely well. Children develop high levels of self-esteem and a positive sense of themselves. Children follow a meticulous hygiene routine and learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. For example, before snack, children remind the childminder they need to wash their hands to remove the germs. They also learn about healthy food.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children are confident, motivated learners who show a can-do attitude during activities. They show exceptional independence in selecting play activities and managing practical tasks. For example, children use knives to cut up and explore real fruit from their role-play shop to have for snack. Children demonstrate excellent mathematical skills for their age. For example, two-year-olds use number language in play as they accurately count coins or compare shapes. Children make excellent progress and are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
