This provision is inadequate
The childminder does not fully understand how to recognise and support children who may be at risk of being exposed to extreme views and/or behaviours, and is not aware of her wider responsibilities regarding data protection. Some written records lack detail and do not include all the required information. Attention to training and professional development is poor. Arrangements for the supervision of assistants are not robust enough and do not contribute to opportunities for training and professional development. Risk assessments to ensure children's health and safety are not always rigorous enough. The childminder has a poor knowledge and understanding of children's learning and development requirements. Checks on the quality of the provision are not rigorous enough to identify all weaknesses and do not ensure all statutory requirements are met.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children are enthusiastically welcomed into a warm and friendly home. Children have formed good relationships with the childminder and her assistants, this helps them feel safe and secure. Children demonstrate a strong sense of belonging. They confidently make choices about how they spend their time after their day in school.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed interactions between the childminder, her assistants and the children present. She spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed activities and assessed the impact this had on children's enjoyment and development. The inspector spoke to parents and carers during the inspection and took account of their views through discussion. The inspector looked at children's records and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector checked evidence of suitability of adults living or working on the premises and the childminder's and her assistants' qualifications.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is not effective. The childminder relies too heavily on direct supervision to keep children safe. As a result, she has failed to take action to restrict children's access to bedrooms on the first floor, which contain alcohol and cleaning products. In addition, cleaning products stored in a low level kitchen cupboard are also accessible to the children. The childminder does not fully understand how to recognise and support children who may be at risk of being exposed to extreme views and/or behaviours. In addition, she is not fully aware of data protection legalisation with regard to photographs. She does, however, take sufficient steps to keep photographs of children secure on her mobile phone. The childminder implements appropriate procedures if she is concerned about a child's welfare and in the event of an allegation being made against a member of the household. She is aware of her responsibility to notify Ofsted of changes to the household,

so that full suitability checks can be completed. The childminder ensures that Disclosure and Barring service checks are carried out for all adults living or working on the premises. The childminder maintains an accurate record of children's attendance and obtains basic information for each child. However, records do not include details of every parent and/or carer who has parental responsibility or who the child normally lives with. The childminder works with a regular assistant and maintains an accurate record of her attendance. The childminder and her assistant have maintained a qualification in paediatric first aid and have completed child protection training. However, systems initiated for the supervision of assistants have not been maintained. Further training and professional development is very limited. Checks on the quality of the provision are not rigorous enough, consequently, the childminder has failed to identify a number of weaknesses.
p.4
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder's knowledge and understanding of children's learning and development requirements are poor. The childminder currently provides care for children of school age only and is not required to meet all learning and development requirements. However, she cannot demonstrate how she would monitor children's progress or shape activities to help younger children make progress when next caring for this age range. Despite this she has a general awareness of child development and spontaneously offers support and encouragement to children as they play. This helps to support their learning in school. The childminder provides a suitable range of play materials that children enjoy.
p.4
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children's welfare is compromised by weaknesses in leadership and management. The childminder warmly welcomes all children and builds relaxed and informal relationship with parents and carers. Children are happy and settled in this home from home environment. Many have been in the childminder's care for several years and she knows them and their families well. Children are well supported emotionally as they start school. Children behave well. They enjoy a healthy snack, such as yoghurt and fruit after school and have regular opportunities to play outdoors.
