This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how young children learn and develop. She knows the learning needs of children in her care to ensure they make good progress in readiness for the move on to their next phase in learning. Children are happy and content in the childminder's home. They are emotionally secure and develop a strong bond with the childminder. Parents are kept well informed about their child's day, including their care routines, outings and activities in which they take part. Children's health, well-being and physical development are promoted effectively. The childminder promotes healthy eating and good personal care routines, and children benefit from spending time outdoors each day. The childminder is a good role model who is respectful in her approach to children. She teaches young children about good behaviours and they learn to share, take turns and use good manners.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always offer children enough opportunities to explore using their senses. The childminder does not fully consider how to help children to develop their awareness of the similarities and differences between their lives and those of others.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at a sample of relevant documentation with regards to children's welfare and safety, including evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents from information provided in written references on the day of inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands how to follow the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder updates her child protection knowledge by completing training. She monitors her provision and talks to parents about her practice to see where improvements can be made. Since the last inspection she has completed a recognised childcare qualification. The childminder ensures the premises are safe and she supervises children well in the home and on outings. The childminder has a good understanding of what children know and can do. She checks for gaps in their learning and talks to parents about the progress children make. Parents are complimentary about the childminder's care and the progress their children make in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children well and has a good understanding of what they need to learn next. She uses good teaching strategies to support children by following their lead and encouraging them to find their own way of doing things. The childminder places a good focus on promoting young children's communication skills. She constantly interacts with children and repeats words to reinforce early language and to develop their vocabulary. Young children are very inquisitive and choose with what they would like to play. They particularly like to look at books where they can lift flaps to reveal which animal is hiding on the page and they enjoy listening to stories. The childminder takes every opportunity to engage children in singing and counting. She encourages children to follow the actions to their favourite songs and shows them how to use the bricks to build a tower. Children develop early technology skills while playing with electronic toys and

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are relaxed and content in the childminder's care. The childminder helps children to keep themselves safe and play harmoniously. The childminder encourages children from a young age to help to tidy up toys. Children benefit from regular visits to local groups where they play alongside their peers and develop confidence and social skills. The childminder is calm and nurturing. For example, cuddles and story time provide the chance for children to relax and have quiet time before they go to sleep. Children are praised for their achievements and this boosts their self-esteem. The childminder shares children's achievement in a daily diary, detailing the 'Special moments in my day'. This provides parents with valuable information about their child's day and care routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children show an eagerness to explore and learn. They move forward at a good pace in their learning and learn skills that will help them in the future. Children learn about numbers, counting, and letters and the sounds they represent. They develop good independence and personal care skills.
