This provision is good
The childminder has worked successfully with the local authority to address the actions set at her last inspection. She evaluates her provision accurately and has clear priorities for future improvements. The experienced childminder knows the children she cares for very well and makes accurate assessments of their development. She provides a wide range of activities that supports children's interests and developmental needs effectively. Children make good progress overall. The childminder is calm, kind and welcoming. She offers a safe, nurturing environment for young children. Children are emotionally secure and settled in her care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently share enough detailed information with other settings children attend, to ensure a fully joined-up approach to children's learning. The childminder does not always give parents information about how they can effectively contribute to and be involved in their child's learning at home. The childminder does not make the best use of a broad range of techniques to maximise children's communication and language skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the premises used for childminding purposes, including spaces where children sleep overnight. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including accident and incident records, and records of attendance. The inspector discussed the process of self-evaluation with the childminder and how she obtains the views of all those who use her provision. The inspector took account of the written views of parents and the local authority. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed children and discussed the children's development and learning together. The inspector discussed the childminder's safeguarding knowledge and how she supports children's welfare.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder shows a good awareness of what she should do if she has a concern about a child. She understands her responsibility to protect children who may be at risk of exposure to extreme behaviours and ideas. The childminder carries out daily risk assessments of her premises to minimise any hazards and ensure children's safety and security. She maintains records, such as any accidents that occur and for the medication she gives, as required. The childminder monitors children's learning regularly and shares this with parents. She seeks the views of the local authority, parents and children to help her monitor her effectiveness.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Improvements made since the last inspection have had a positive impact on children's learning. Children freely access resources in the childminder's playroom to support their interests. The childminder uses her teaching qualification and experience to support children well as they play. She provides planned activities that target children's individual learning needs effectively. For example, children paint patterns on paper and experiment as they mix colours together. The childminder provides children with regular trips out that they enjoy. She supports children's mathematical understanding well. For example, she helps children to name shapes and count routinely in the day, such as when they go up and down the stairs.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder supports children's emotional and physical development well. She provides children with a familiar routine and ensures that they receive plenty of attention and reassurance. Children receive a wide range of nutritious, home-cooked meals that meets their individual dietary needs. They enjoy regular trips and outings into the community to help children learn about other people, places and communities beyond their own. The childminder provides comfortable resting spaces for children who stay overnight. She ensures children's safety with well-thought-out evacuation procedures, which she practises with the children regularly. The childminder promotes children's independence well and supports them to do tasks for themselves. She effectively models good behaviour and supports children to manage their feelings and behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn a wide range of skills in readiness for their move to school. They listen keenly to instructions and concentrate well. Children are independent, self-assured and confident. They show imagination and express their ideas through creative activities, such as painting. Children develop their early literacy skills and enjoy listening to favourite stories. They show their developing understanding as they sort items according to colours.
