Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has made a good start to her childminding business. She shows a positive attitude towards continually developing her practice. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Both the childminder and her assistant have completed safeguarding training and hold a first-aid qualification. They understand the procedures to follow if they have concerns about a child's welfare and they can deal with emergency situations or accidents. When there is shared care, the childminder links effectively with key persons in nurseries or schools to pass on information about children's progress and achievements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children benefit from the attention of the childminder who is enthusiastic and makes learning enjoyable. There is an effective blend of adult-led experiences and activities that children choose for themselves. The childminder works closely with her assistant to assess progress and ensure that children's interests drive the activities they provide. The childminder carefully tracks children's achievements to ensure that there are no gaps in learning. Children have access to a good range of play equipment to help them learn about shapes, colours and numbers. They learn to look at books for pleasure and make regular visits to the library. This means they access even more literature and sing rhymes and songs during larger group activities.
p.3

When children first start, the childminder obtains information for parents to help her support children's individual care routines. Children's social and emotional well-being are promoted well. The childminder teaches children to show respect, take turns with the toys and to listen attentively to instructions. The childminder provides children with a variety of nutritious and balanced meals and snacks. This helps to promote the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle. Young children have opportunities for active play in the fresh air. They also have the chance to relax and are closely monitored as they sleep peacefully.
p.3
