This provision is good
Children behave very well. The childminder gives them lots of praise to acknowledge their efforts and encourage them. They develop positive attitudes to learning, and are confident and self-assured. The childminder builds strong relationships with parents. Parents greatly value her support and for involving them in their children's learning to ensure that children receive consistent care. The childminder uses a wide range of teaching techniques to support, challenge and motivate children in their learning. She plans effectively for children's next steps in learning and children make good progress in their development. The childminder has a strong understanding of her role and responsibilities. She regularly involves children, parents and colleagues in the self-evaluation of her practice to identify future improvements and to raise children's outcomes.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector reviewed a sample of the childminder's documents and records. The inspector completed an observation with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of the children and parents, both written and in person.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder keeps up to date with changes in childcare legislation. She fully understands the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder is qualified and experienced. She is committed to developing her practice even further to improve children's outcomes. For example, she is part of a network of childminders locally who routinely compare and share teaching strategies. The childminder supervises children well. She takes positive steps to minimise hazards to children, to help ensure that they are kept safe. Partnership with parents is strong and the childminder has an effective system in place to share the children's progress on a daily basis.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder accurately judges children's levels of development. She uses her precise assessment to deliver well-planned activities to support the children's progress. Where gaps are identified, she develops action plans to address them. The childminder encourages children to explore and experiment with different creative resources and materials. For example, they use their fingers to create a painted border around shapes on paper. They enjoy mixing paints to make new colours and match their pictures with three- dimensional wooden shapes, identifying the similarities and differences. The childminder gets down to the children's level and joins in with their play experiences. Children enjoy playing with vehicles and small-world figures, building train tracks and road networks. She praises their achievements. This results in children being very proud of their accomplishments and happy to attempt more.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children have highly positive attitudes to their play and relish new challenges. They play an active role in their learning and help to plan activities. Self-confidence is promoted to a high level and children thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder. Children are socially and emotionally very secure which supports their enthusiasm to learn. Behaviour management is excellent and strategies are shared and agreed with parents. Children enjoy outdoor activities. The childminder uses physical play as a route to weave in other areas of learning, while keeping activities interesting and enjoyable. Walks with the family dog and trips to meet friends through a strong local childminding network result in the days being well paced and active. Parents are encouraged to contribute to their child's continued learning and comment that their children have made great progress with the support of the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good independence skills. They learn to socialise with other children, taking turns and sharing. They develop good coordination in active play and using small construction equipment. Children gain good skills that help prepare them well for their future learning.
