Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of the procedures to follow should she have concerns for children's safety. She keeps up to date with current safeguarding guidance and implements effective procedures to help protect children from harm. The childminder conducts regular and thorough checks on her home to eliminate risks. Since her last inspection, the childminder has continued to evaluate her practice and has addressed the previous recommendation effectively. She takes into account the views of parents, children and others, which help her maintain a good service.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder knows the children well. She plans challenging and enjoyable activities based on children's interests and capabilities. The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. For example, children effectively talked with the childminder when matching puzzle pieces and used their imagination to describe horses and unicorns. The childminder extends children's creative skills superbly. For example, children use a very exciting variety of textures and materials, such as making play dough using flour and mixing different colours. The childminder extended their learning further, asking them to think about how they can shape the dough and identify textures and colours when mixed together.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is caring and nurturing and children have formed excellent bonds with her. Children settle quickly and develop a deep sense of belonging. They are extremely confident learners and are eager to play and explore. Children have excellent opportunities to socialise and learn about differences between themselves and others. For example, children visit places of interest and playgroups to meet and interact with other children and adults. Children develop high levels of independence during activities as they choose from a wealth of resources which are easily available to them. They develop very good self-care skills around personal hygiene and develop an understanding of healthy lifestyles extremely well.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children make good progress and gain useful skills for their future learning, including when they move on to school. Children show enthusiasm in all of their activities and are eager to learn. They persevere well to complete tasks, for example, when sorting and matching puzzles. They learn to listen, to ask questions and to express their needs. Children have excellent opportunities to develop their independence and the childminder encourages children to tackle challenges and try new things.
