This provision is good
Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder shares regular information with them about the activities their children take part in while in her care. The childminder promotes children's speaking and listening well. This helps them to become confident communicators. The childminder is a good role model for children. She explains and demonstrates how to do things to help develop children's understanding and skills. The childminder is warm, experienced and uses a wide range of teaching techniques to encourage children to think, talk, explore and play. The childminder effectively supports children to manage their feelings and behaviour. She helps them to think about what is acceptable behaviour. She models good practice and sets clear boundaries to teach children right from wrong.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not routinely take into account the views of parents, to help her decide how to develop her service further. The childminder does not use her assessment systems as well as possible to monitor precisely the progress of children and to build further on their good progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of the signs and symptoms that might lead her to have a concern about a child. She is clear about the correct procedures to follow to keep children safe from harm. The childminder attends training to keep up to date with any changes. Her up-to-date policies, procedures and risk assessments help to ensure the safety of the children in her care. Parents share positive views about the childminder and her provision. The childminder carries out assessments of children's learning that help her to monitor children's progress. Overall, she uses this information to suitably address any weaker areas in their learning and development and to help ensure she covers all areas of learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She interacts thoughtfully and successfully with children during their play. She explores resources alongside them, inspiring their interest. The childminder organises her resources well for children to make independent choices. Interesting activities are provided for the children to promote their learning. For example, children delight in making snowmen and winter pictures. The childminder helps the children to use the glue and other resources to create their pictures. She skilfully tests and reinforces children's knowledge of shapes and colours as she talks to them about the resources they use.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have warm and close relationships with the childminder. She helps them to settle well and works closely with parents to ensure children's needs are consistently met. The childminder is caring and friendly towards children. She intuitively reacts to their care needs, promoting a high level of well-being for them. The childminder successfully encourages children to be physically active, using the large, safe garden when the weather is suitable. Children also regularly visit local parks, libraries, shops and play groups. This also helps them to develop a sense of their place in the community and develops their wider social skills. The childminder provides children with healthy and wholesome food. She discusses the importance of handwashing and talks about washing away the germs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children benefit from their time with the childminder. They explore the environment, following their ideas and leading their own play. They are confident talkers and successful learners. They are motivated and concentrate for good lengths of time on activities that interest them. Children are making good progress from their starting points. Children learn to socialise and learn skills to prepare them for future learning and their eventual move to school.
