This provision is good
Children demonstrate they are happy and comfortable in the childminder's home. They settle quickly into play. Children have strong attachments with the childminder who shows care and concern for them. The environment is well organised. Children are given opportunities to make their own independent choices from the good range of easily accessible resources. Children can move around the home easily, supporting their physical skills. Children enjoy their time at the childminder's home. They make good progress, relative to their starting points. The childminder observes and assesses children's learning and provides activities to support children's next steps in their development. The childminder has recently evaluated her practice. She has identified areas for improvement that will benefit outcomes for children. She has built good partnerships with parents and regularly shares information with them.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not encourage children to develop their understanding of good personal hygiene practices, such as hand washing before eating. They are not encouraged to do this and are unaware of the importance of such practices. At times, the childminder does not fully encourage the younger, quieter children to take an active part in all activities provided.

review routines that help children learn the importance of good personal hygiene practices consider ways to encourage the younger children to become involved and fully engaged in the available activities.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the childminder's interactions with children. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector checked and discussed evidence of the suitability of all adults living on the premises and checked the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's records, safeguarding procedures and the childminder's other written policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear knowledge about child protection and about how to safeguard children. She understands the importance of monitoring children's non-attendance carefully. The childminder understands the procedures to follow and the indicators that may give her cause for concern about a child's welfare. The childminder carries out daily risk assessments to ensure the home is safe and secure when children are present. The childminder has addressed the actions from her last inspection and has completed an appropriate first-aid course. She recognises the importance of maintaining her professional development and keeping her knowledge of childcare up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder meets children's individual needs effectively. She provides a good range of activities to motivate and interest them, overall. For example, she recognises children's emerging interests in dinosaurs and provides books alongside the models so children can look them up in the books. The childminder develops children's early mathematical awareness effectively, for instance, as they count cars, bean bags and how many times they can catch the bean bag. Children develop their physical and small-muscle skills. They enjoy threading beads on string and talking about the colours. Young children are fascinated by bottles full of different liquids and glitter. They tip the bottles and watch the liquid while childminder talks to them about what is happening.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. She offers reassurance to children who are unsure or upset. The childminder offers children plenty of praise and encouragement as children show her what they have done, supporting their growing confidence and self-esteem. Children behave and interact well together. They enjoy developing their independence skills, such as when they choose their next activity or as they visit the toilet alone. The childminder ensures children have regular access to fresh air and exercise. They take part in daily outings to nearby parks and around the local area. Children are beginning to learn about healthy eating and sit well to eat.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills they need that will support them in the next stages of learning and their eventual move on to school. They develop a good understanding about sharing and taking turns as they interact with each other. They are eager to learn. Children develop good communication and language skills. They enjoy having books read to them by the childminder which helps support their early literacy skills.
