This provision is good
The childminder provides a highly effective learning environment. She uses her strong teaching skills to motivate and excite children so that they make good progress. The childminder updates her skills and knowledge through ongoing professional development. She seeks the views of parents and improves her practice accordingly. Children benefit from a wide range of learning opportunities, such as trips to the local trampoline park and to organised physical activity sessions. Children of mixed-age groups play and socialise very well together. They show good behaviour skills and take turns sharing toys and resources. The childminder assesses children's progress and plans for their next steps in learning. Children learn a range of skills that prepares them well for school. Children enjoy a warm and caring relationship with the childminder.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make links or work effectively with other settings that children attend, to share information for a consistent approach to supporting their learning. The childminder does not routinely share the next steps in children's learning with parents.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

improve methods to share information with other settings that children attend, to ensure a consistent approach to their learning and development enhance the involvement of parents to ensure a shared approach to the children's next steps in learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including children's records, and certificates and qualifications. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents by reading written feedback they provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. She is currently studying for an early years foundation degree and has used her new skills and knowledge to improve her practice. For example, the childminder recently devised a questionnaire for parents to consider methods of communicating. She has reflected on the feedback and adapted how she shares information. The childminder risk assesses her premises and has addressed safety using locks, stairgates and by moving furniture. She has written permission from parents prior to taking children on excursions in her car.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a good range of play activities. For example, she teaches children mathematical skills, such as sorting toy bears into groups by size and colour. The childminder differentiates the activity according to children's ages and stages of development. Younger children are encouraged to name the colours and match them, and older children spend time categorising by size and using language, such as 'big', 'small' and 'medium' sized. The childminder provides good challenge in their play to extend their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is very good. Children listen, follow the childminder's requests and demonstrate a good level of self-control and respect for each other. They willingly share toys and look after the equipment. They play independently and together with a wide variety of resources. The childminder supports children's good health. She provides, for example, high levels of physical exercise and enjoyable games, such as obstacle courses. The childminder takes children to the local shops to buy food for meals. They learn about fresh and healthy meals, eat with enthusiasm at the table and use cutlery independently.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making good progress. The childminder plans for the next steps in each child's development to ensure they gain the skills needed for school. Children are confident, keen and motivated to learn, and enjoy their time mixing with other children of differing ages. Older children support younger children's learning by acting as role models. For example, older children help the younger children to develop an understanding of how their body works when pretending to be doctors with dolls.
