This provision is good
Children's good progress is monitored through assessment that identifies their next steps and is used to inform planning. Information is given to parents on a regular basis to ensure they have a clear and accurate understanding of their child's level of development. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice. This helps her to identify the strengths of her setting and any areas for improvement. The childminder's teaching is good. She provides a range of experiences and activities that children enjoy. Children are excited and motivated to play and explore. The childminder is a good role model and children enjoy warm relationships with her. This contributes towards them developing self-esteem and emotional security. The childminder uses her policies and procedures effectively to promote children's health, safety and well-being. This helps to keep children safe and secure.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, the childminder does not give children enough time to think and respond to her questions. The childminder does not always gain information about children's skills and capabilities on entry. Additionally, the strategies for gathering ongoing information from parents about children's learning at home are not always successful.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home and jointly evaluated these with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector viewed the premises, toys and equipment. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults residing within the family home. The inspector took account of the views of parents in written form during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is well organised and provides a good level of care and learning for every child. She has a good knowledge of how young children learn and how to promote their development. The childminder seeks the views of parents and children in reviewing her provision and strives for continuous improvement. The childminder works closely with other local childminders. This helps her to continue to drive forward improvements and make positive changes. The childminder has completed a range of training to enhance outcomes for children. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is fully aware of safeguarding procedures and knows how to respond if she is concerned about a child in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The well-qualified childminder understands how children learn and develop, overall. She regularly observes children and assesses their development. She uses her knowledge to plan stimulating and challenging activities that ignite children's curiosity. The childminder actively encourages children's communication and language skills. They feel the texture of ice, bubbles and water and fill and pour using different sized containers. This helps support children to be actively engaged and highly motivated in their play. The childminder skilfully introduces mathematical language, such as 'sink', 'float', 'heavy' and 'light' and asks children to count the scoops of water using different sizes of containers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder's home is welcoming and inviting. All children demonstrate that they feel happy and content in her care. Children choose from accessible toys and equipment. This contributes towards their independence and confidence. Children receive lots of praise and affection and clearly demonstrate that they are valued and respected. This helps to support their emotional well-being and self-esteem very well. Children are encouraged to be independent from an early age. They manage their own personal care routines effectively. The childminder encourages children to enjoy eating healthy food and provides regular outings in the local community. Children are exceptionally polite and well mannered. They display positive behaviour that is appropriate to their age and show respect for themselves and each other.
p.3
