This provision is good
The childminder has met the action and recommendations set at her last inspection. She supervises children well at all times and ensures they are always within her sight or hearing. Children have better opportunities to express their views and wishes, which helps the childminder plan more effectively for their interests. Children feel happy and safe in the childminder's care. Close bonds have been formed and they enjoy the positive interaction they receive from the childminder in their play. Children explore the environment with confidence. The qualified childminder demonstrates a good understanding of how children learn. She helps to extend learning through asking questions that support children to use their imagination and develop their thinking skills. Children engage in a range of enjoyable and exciting experiences away from the home. They visit stately homes, a safari park and a crocodile farm to help them learn more

about the community and the world around them. The childminder considers what she does well and what she needs to do to improve. She seeks the views of parents and children to help her review her services.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently encourage parents to share information about what they know their children can already do when they first start.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

strengthen partnerships with parents and support them to share what they know about their children's achievements at the start.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder throughout the inspection about her practice and children's learning and development. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of how to report any concerns about children's welfare. She demonstrates a good understanding of the indicators that a child may be at risk of harm. The childminder checks her home and garden every day to ensure the areas used by the children are safe and secure. Extra safety precautions are in place. For example, children wear fluorescent jackets on outings so they can be easily seen and accounted for in public places and on school runs near busy roads. The childminder demonstrates a positive attitude to consistently developing her childcare skills and knowledge through training opportunities that promote positive outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder closely observes and assesses children's learning to help them make good progress. This also helps her to quickly identify and plan for areas that require more targeted support. The childminder makes good use of spontaneous learning opportunities. For example, when children are curious about a pineapple role-play toy, the childminder suggests cutting open a real pineapple to look inside. Children are encouraged to feel and describe the texture of the skin. The childminder introduces new words into their vocabulary, such as 'spiky' and 'bumpy', as they explore. Children really enjoy tasting the fruit. The childminder discusses children's progress with parents and how to support learning at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model for children. She is warm, friendly and polite. She interacts positively with children throughout the day. She shows how she values children's achievements through regular encouragement and praise. Children are supported and encouraged by the childminder to be kind, use good manners and to share resources. The childminder closely follows children's care routines. She is quick to recognise signs of tiredness and settles children easily for an afternoon nap. Children learn to adopt healthy lifestyles. They maintain good hygiene practices and eat healthy foods. Children help to choose and pay for the fruit they want to eat on trips to the shops. They regularly access physical play in the fresh air.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning given their starting points and capabilities. They are keen to learn and join in with a wide variety of activities. Children recognise colours and shapes. They learn to count and participate in simple calculation. Children listen to adults and follow instructions well. They develop good social skills as they happily play alongside their friends. Children are developing the key skills they need for school and future life.
