This provision is good
The childminder is well organised and reflective. She gathers the views of parents and children to help her to evaluate all aspects of her practice. The childminder places a strong focus on promoting children's communication and language development. Children are becoming confident talkers and demonstrate a good vocabulary for their age. Children make good progress in their learning. Children establish strong bonds with the childminder. They demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in her care. For example, they are confident to seek cuddles from the childminder when they feel sad or upset. The childminder encourages children to be independent and active. She organises the resources and toys well to enable children to choose and freely access what they wish to play with.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of her good relationships with parents to help them complement and extend their children's learning at home. More could be done to provide children for whom English is an additional language with opportunities to explore their home languages and cultures.

The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke with children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder confidently explains how she fulfils her role to protect children from harm. She has completed training to raise her awareness of wider safeguarding issues, such as the risk to children of being exposed to extreme views of right and wrong. The childminder completes risk assessments to ensure any hazards to children's safety are reduced or minimised. She carefully plans outings to ensure children's safety is taken into account. She is committed to her continued professional development. She has plans to further develop her knowledge and skills in children's communication and language development. She keeps up to date with changes in childcare practice, for example, through the use of online resources and training.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children very well. She gathers information from parents about what children know and can do on entry to help her to establish children's starting points. She observes children as they play and plans effectively for their individual next steps in learning and their emerging interests. The childminder sensitively joins in with children's play. She talks to the children about what they are doing and repeats words they say so they can hear the correct pronunciation. Children concentrate well as they scoop and pour play snow and glitter to create snow globes. They fasten the lids and shake the jars, saying 'shake, shake, shake' as they mix the ingredients together.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and well settled. The childminder praises their efforts and achievements. This helps them to develop self-confidence and good levels of self-esteem. They are curious and keen to have a go at the wide range of activities the childminder provides. They thoroughly enjoy jumping and hopping as they pretend to be rabbits for a favourite song. They enjoy trips in the local community with the childminder, such as to toddler groups and the nearby forest. The childminder teaches children about road safety on outings. She provides a healthy range of meals and snacks to help children develop healthy lifestyles. She ensures children have regular opportunities for fresh air and exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress given their starting points and capabilities. They are working in line with age-related expectations. They are confident to explore and enjoy sharing their experiences with each other. They are able to show good levels of focus and concentration. Children are able to listen and follow instructions. They are developing good physical skills. For example, they show good physical control as they pour play snow into jars. Children are gaining good skills and positive attitudes to support the next stage in their learning and eventual move to school.
