This provision is good
Children are confident and happy in the childminder's home. They show increasing independence as they make choices in their play and manage their personal care needs. The childminder supports children's learning well. She monitors their progress closely and plans and provides a wide range of fun activities that reflect their individual learning needs well. This helps them to make good progress. Children are increasingly aware of their own feelings and they are sensitive to the needs of others. They develop strong relationships with the childminder's family and their friends. The childminder has made good progress since her last inspection and all actions raised have been met. She recognises the need for continuous professional development. She works closely with her co-minder and childminding colleagues to build on her skills to better support the needs of all children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to further support children's language and literacy skills during their play.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
provide more support for children's language and literacy development, for example, by making more use of rhymes and songs during their play.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke to the childminder, the co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, and a sample of other documentation. The inspector took account of the childminder’s self-evaluation and written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has developed her knowledge of all aspects of safeguarding children and has developed a good understanding of how to protect children's welfare. The childminder evaluates her practice well. Following training, she has introduced routines to better support children's emotional well-being, such as through the 'how are you feeling today' board. The childminder has reflected well on the organisation and use of documentation, to ensure this is effective in helping her to support children's welfare. She monitors children's progress well and has a good understanding of their next steps and learning needs. She communicates effectively with other professionals, to ensure children receive consistent support to help them make good progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder seeks detailed information about children's starting points. She plans effectively to improve their skills, and quickly adapts activities based on their individual needs. For example, while using playdough, she provides opportunities for children to build on their confident counting skills by introducing simple calculations. This challenges them well and extends their understanding of number order and value. This is further developed as she shares information with parents and suggests suitable activities that they may wish to continue at home. The childminder offers children lots of choice in what they do and how they play. She focuses on children's interests when planning and providing activities, to ensure children are keen to be involved and motivated to learn.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident and demonstrate high levels of self-esteem. For example, as they carefully use the knives to cut up their favourite fruit at snack time, they cheer, 'I did it'. This strong sense of achievement is boosted by the childminder's frequent use of praise, such as when she writes on stars to highlight their success to others. The childminder is vigilant about safety. Checks are completed frequently and steps are taken to minimise risks. For example, after recent storms, fencing in the garden has become damaged. Following a risk assessment, the childminder has temporarily stopped using the garden until this has been fixed. Instead, she plans and provides daily outings to parks and outdoor play spaces, to ensure children still have plenty of opportunities for physical activities in the fresh air. The childminder is a good role model and helps children gain a positive awareness of people's differences. She provides an inclusive environment where

Outcomes for children are good
Children gain good skills that prepare them well for school. They are confident and independent. For example, children wash their hands before they eat and select games and resources to use from the well-organised playroom. They learn to play well with their friends, such as when they decide how to share tools and equipment.
