Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff make extremely good use of opportunities to review the learning environment to provide activities that focus on children's individual needs. For example, they provide scented play dough to help children to explore, using their senses. A member of staff is always close by to join in to help drive the activity forward. Staff use resources to stimulate young children's impulse to explore. For example, young children delight in investigating real food as they role play making soup. Staff play alongside children and extend their communication and language skills, for example, through excellent use of sign language. Staff recognise that they can explore further strategies, perhaps using their sign language skills, to continue to involve all parents more actively in supporting children's communication and language at home.

Staff consistently praise children, regardless of how small their achievement may be. This helps to significantly raise children's confidence and self- esteem. Children delight in being outdoors and use the area well. For example, children increase their awareness of mathematical concepts as they choose magnetic numbers and match them to numbers displayed. In addition, children are provided with excellent opportunities to help develop their physical and exploratory skills.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are making excellent progress in relation to their starting points and individual needs. They develop high levels of independence and confidence. For example, on arrival they confidently identify their names to self-register and choose what they want to play with. Children develop exceptional skills for their future learning and eventual move on to nursery or school.
