This provision is good
The childminder regularly evaluates her practice. She completes training to enhance her knowledge and skills, and improve outcomes for children. For example, she has researched healthy eating for toddlers. She now uses fresh ingredients to create a healthier menu and improve children's understanding of where their food comes from. Children build close relationships with the childminder and her family. They demonstrate they feel safe and relax in her care. They follow daily routines well and are confident to ask the childminder for help. The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She provides an effective balance of child-initiated and adult-led learning. She makes good use of the community to enhance learning opportunities. For example, children visit the local pond to explore the wildlife. The childminder works well with parents and other settings that children attend. She

She has a good awareness of new legislation and wider child protection issues. The childminder implements effective risk assessments in her home, garden and on outings to ensure children play in a safe and suitable environment. The childminder supports children's critical-thinking skills and encourages them to work out how to do things, such as how to fit pieces into a puzzle. Children begin to count to higher numbers, match and group objects.

The childminder works closely with parents from the start to share information about children's care routines and help them settle. The childminder promotes a healthy lifestyle. Children enjoy outdoor play every day. They play games in the nearby field, enjoy walks in the community and have regular outings to the park. The childminder supports children to begin managing their own self-care routines in preparation for the move on to nursery or school. The childminder gives children positive encouragement during play. She helps them to understand boundaries and gain an understanding of right from wrong. The childminder praises children for their efforts, which helps to raise their self-esteem and build their confidence.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Assessments show children are meeting their typical targets and making good progress from their starting points. Children happily explore their environment and make their own choices in their play. They attend groups at the local children's centre and soft-play area, where they learn further social skills and begin to build friendships with other children.
