This provision is good
The highly qualified owner monitors all areas of practice and provides good-quality guidance, support and coaching to help staff to continually develop their practice. Staff are confident and knowledgeable. They meet children's individual needs well and help them to make good progress. Staff provide a wonderful range of highly stimulating activities for children. They place great emphasis on providing outdoor learning opportunities, visiting places of interest and following children's interests. All children are happy, settled and have fun. They are highly motivated, active and inquisitive. They are supported to extend their learning during all activities. Staff are highly effective in helping all children to develop their personal and social and physical skills. They successfully promote children's understanding of early literacy and the natural world, and support their imaginative play. Self-evaluation is ongoing and includes the views, wishes, and concerns of parents,

children, staff and other professionals. It leads to well-targeted action plans and continuous improvements in the provision.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff are not as highly focused on helping children to make as much progress as possible in developing their awareness and interest in similarities of shapes and patterns in the environment. On occasions, staff answer children's questions too quickly, rather than encouraging them to think things through for themselves and further develop their thinking skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children at play in the playrooms, the kitchen/dining area and the outdoor area. She accompanied children on their visit to a local zoo to see Father Christmas. She assessed the quality of interactions between staff and children. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the provider. The inspector held discussions with the management team and staff. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons working and living in the setting. The inspector interacted with children during the inspection. She spoke to parents and took account of their written views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. There are robust recruitment, induction and ongoing vetting procedures to ensure adults are suitable to work with children. Staff undergo regular training in child protection. They have a secure understanding of their roles and responsibilities. The provider undertakes and regularly reviews risk assessments. She makes sure all the necessary steps are taken to ensure the part of the premises used for childcare, and any outdoor environments, are safe, clean and suitable. As a result, children's health and safety is promoted when they are in the setting and during outings. Staff and household members implement all safeguarding policies and procedures, such as not using personal mobile phones when children are present. The good partnership working with parents, other providers and professionals contributes to children's care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff know the children very well. They quickly identify children's starting points with parents. They provide detailed information to parents about children progress, which is closely monitored. Staff identify and support children's next steps in learning. They are skilled in adapting their interactions to meet the differing learning needs of the children in their care. They provide clear explanations to help children to learn new skills and do as much as they can for themselves. Staff are playful, enthusiastic and fun. They show high levels of interest in what children say and do. They capture opportunities to join in with children's play to support and sustain their learning. Children are eager to find things out, explore and experiment. They play imaginatively and creatively.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's individual needs are identified and are met well through the effective organisation of the premises and deployment and practice of staff. Children sleep undisturbed in a quite area and staff ensure the privacy of all children during times, such as nappy changing. Staff place a strong focus on helping children to develop their awareness and understanding of how to stay safe and healthy. For example, children carry out risk assessments and learn how to manage risks during their weekly forest school activities. Children develop strong friendships with each other. They learn to negotiate and solve conflict amicably. They show high levels of consideration for younger children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop skills for their next steps in their learning and school, when the time comes. Younger children show good levels of self-confidence and willingness to take risks in new situations, such as meeting Father Christmas and touching a medley of new and unusual small animals. Children learn to confidently express themselves. Older children initiate conversation, take account of what others say and work together to develop an agreed narrative and purpose to their play. They understand, talk about and follow the instructions they read from posters, such as do not bang the glass. They plan and review their work as they make intricate models from small bricks.
