This provision is good
The childminder provides exciting experiences that help to engage children and support their learning well. Children make good progress. Children settle in well and develop close and trusting relationships with the kind and caring childminder. They show a strong sense of belonging as they confidently move around the childminder's home. The childminder attends regular training and works with the local authority training team to help her continually develop her practice. This helps her to raise the quality of her provision and extend children's overall learning experiences. Children are well cared for in a clean and stimulating environment. The childminder completes thorough risk assessments to minimize hazards and teaches children how to keep themselves safe successfully.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not make use of opportunities that arise to strengthen children's understanding of mathematics. The childminder does not fully encourage parents to share information about their children's learning at home, to support her plans for their progress further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and the children and the activities they engaged in. The inspector viewed the parts of the premises used for childminding and talked to the childminder and the children at appropriate times. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including risk assessments, children's records and the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed children at play. The inspector reviewed parents' feedback by sampling written documents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of child protection and attends courses regularly to keep up to date with new guidance. She implements effective procedures to help protect children from harm. The childminder reflects on and evaluates the quality of her practice well to help improve her provision. For example, since her last inspection, she monitors and tracks children's progress effectively to ensure that any identified gaps in their learning are narrowed. She shares this information with parents to help promote consistency in children's learning and care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses good teaching strategies and plans a wide range of age-appropriate activities based on her knowledge of children's individual needs. She helps younger children develop their understanding of language and supports their emerging speaking skills well. For example, children look at books and point out their favourite animals in the pictures while the childminder introduces new vocabulary. The childminder provides children with exciting resources to extend their creative skills. For instance, during the inspection, young children enjoyed imaginary play, pretend cooking and caring for their dolls. The childminder successfully extended their learning, such as explaining the benefits of a healthy diet and the importance of sharing and caring for others.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is gentle and attentive to children's individual needs. She uses positive and purposeful praise and encouragement. She teaches children to be kind and polite, and to learn to respect differences between themselves and others. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder is enthusiastic and gets fully involved in children's play and actively follows their lead. The childminder helps children to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. For instance, she provides healthy meals and snacks, which include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. She ensures children have daily opportunities for active play, where they have fun practising their physical skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their individual starting points. They show good levels of concentration and persevere well at tasks. Children learn about the wider world and attend a variety of outings, such as to local play centres. This helps them to develop good social skills and learn to share toys and take turns. Children are independent and gain skills that prepare them well for their next stage in their learning.
