This provision is good
The childminder uses accurate assessments of children's progress and plans for what each child needs to learn next. All children are developing the skills and attitudes to help to promote future learning. The childminder provides a stimulating learning environment and motivates children to take part in activities and have a go. Children are enthusiastic, motivated and thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder and their peers. Children's physical and emotional well-being is promoted well. They show a strong sense of belonging and feel safe and secure in the warm and welcoming environment. Children listen attentively to others and follow instructions well. They are developing good social skills and are keen to contribute towards discussions.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not maximise opportunities for children to follow their own ideas, be imaginative, and highly challenged in their play and learning. The childminder does not fully promote children's awareness of people from different backgrounds, communities and cultures.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
provide more opportunities for children to follow their own ideas, be imaginative and even more highly challenged in their play and learning enhance the experiences children have to learn about people from different backgrounds, communities and cultures.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a robust understanding of child protection issues. She knows the procedures to follow should she be worried that a child may be suffering from abuse. The childminder regularly seeks the views of parents and children, and uses this to set priorities for improvement. She attends regular training, which helps to promote the quality of teaching and learning. For example, following training attended, the childminder understands how to identify and plan for the different ways that children learn. The childminder establishes strong partnership working with parents and other professionals to provide consistency in children's care, learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder works effectively with parents to discuss what experiences children have enjoyed and the milestones they have reached. She provides ideas to promote children's learning at home and at the setting. The childminder promotes children's language and communication skills well, in a variety of ways. She uses songs, stories and puppets to encourage children to join in. The childminder copies the sounds younger children make and repeats words and actions. She gives older children plenty of time to think and respond to questions. She encourages them to talk about things that interest them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder shares information with parents, from the start and gathers information about children's care needs and routines. She gets to know children well and helps them to settle in and form a strong bond and attachment. The childminder is a good role model and gives gentle reminders of behavioural expectations. Children enjoy the praise and encouragement they receive and play together very well. The childminder helps children to keep themselves safe and healthy, and she provides regular opportunities for them to experience the outdoors. Children have fun collecting leaves for the pet rabbit to eat and they learn about how to care for animals.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are active and enthusiastic learners. They enjoy making friends and are confident, motivated and self-assured. They are developing good social skills and are kind and caring towards each other. All children are making good progress towards the early learning goals. Parents state they are very happy that children settle in well and that they are prepared well for their move on to school.
