This provision is good
Significant improvements have been made since the last inspection. Effective self- evaluation and the implementation of action plans help to ensure continuous improvement of the nursery. Children thrive in this warm and welcoming nursery. Staff are kind, caring and nurturing. Children develop good social skills, gain confidence and form close bonds with staff. Staff provide a wide range of activities for children to experience. Children play and learn in a well-resourced environment. Overall, good-quality teaching from the enthusiastic and dedicated staff team helps all children to make good progress. Staff promote children's physical development well. They provide a range of activities that helps to enhance children's large- and small-muscle control. Staff are good role models. They remind children to use good manners and follow simple nursery rules. Children behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not always fully challenge the most able children to maximise their learning even further. At times, staff do not provide parents with enough information about their children's next steps in learning, so that parents can extend learning opportunities at home.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector checked a range of documentation, including safeguarding procedures and evidence of staff suitability. The inspector spoke to staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector completed joint observations of activities with the manager. The inspector took into account the views of parents spoken to on the day.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The manager is committed to providing good-quality childcare. She has identified ways to improve staff's knowledge and skills further through professional development. Staff have completed a range of training courses since the last inspection. For example, staff have recently developed their knowledge of how to identify and support children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. As a result, the quality of teaching has improved. The manager monitors staff teaching and children's learning well. She quickly identifies and addresses any gaps in their learning. Safeguarding is effective. All staff have received appropriate training in child protection. Staff are aware of the procedures to follow in the event of concerns about a child or allegations against staff. This helps to protect children from harm.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Overall, the quality of teaching is good. Most staff are qualified and have a good understanding of how children learn through play. Staff get to know children well. They make regular observations and assessments of children's learning. Staff use this information effectively to target planned activities based on what children need to learn next. Staff model simple mathematical language and encourage children to count during everyday activities. Staff encourage children to be creative learners. As children engage in pretend play, staff enhance their learning further. For example, when children begin playing with dolls, staff introduce dressing-up clothes and props. Children are soon engrossed in their play as they pretend to be mothers, doctors and firefighters.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff foster children's emotional well-being effectively. They are sensitive and effective in their support to help children settle when they join the nursery. Children are happy and eager to play and learn. Staff help children to understand how to lead healthy lifestyles. For example, children benefit from a range of healthy meals and snacks. Staff continually provide children with praise and encouragement, and support them to recognise their own achievements. This helps to raise children's self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and most are working within the typical range of development for their age. Early mathematical skills are emerging. Children are beginning to sort, match and count. Language and literacy skills are developing well. Children enjoy singing songs and rhymes. They listen to stories and show their understanding as they talk about the characters. Children develop good physical skills. They learn to control different pencils, chalks and brushes well, such as during creative tasks and mark-making activities. Children understand and follow simple rules. They learn to share and take turns with resources. Children develop a range of valuable skills to prepare them for the next stage of their education.
