This provision is good
The childminder's observations, assessments and planning procedures are effective. She is thorough in her tracking of children's progress. She is quick to identify any gaps in learning and takes positive steps to address them. All children make good progress. Children are happy and have a good relationship with the childminder. They show through their behaviour that they feel emotionally secure and have good self-esteem. Partnerships with parents are strong and they are kept well informed about their children's progress. The childminder works closely with parents to meet children's individual needs and gives good regard to supporting children's emotional well-being. The childminder works effectively with other settings that the children attend to share information about their learning. She ensures that what she offers complements and builds on what children learn at the other settings. Children thrive in the stimulating environment and warm care of the childminder.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including evidence of suitability checks, policies and children's records. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector took account of the parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the signs and symptoms that would cause her concern. She is clear about the procedures to follow to keep children safe from harm. The childminder is dedicated to developing her knowledge and skills, for example, by attending training. She has developed very successful strategies for supporting children's good behaviour towards each other. The childminder provides a safe environment where children can play and learn. For example, she undertakes regular risk assessments to minimise potential hazards in the home and on outings. Parents comment positively about the care their children receive and the learning experiences they enjoy.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a range of stimulating activities based on children's interests and needs. She makes resources easily available, which helps children to make independent choices during their play. Children have plenty of opportunities to engage in creative activities and have good chances to practise their writing skills. They have fun exploring different textures of various materials and resources, and they enjoy making Christmas cards for their family. The childminder supports children's understanding of shape, space and measurement well. For example, when children complete an activity using an educational digital technology resource, the childminder uses words such as 'on top', 'in front' and 'behind', to help children understand positional language.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. They respond well to the childminder's calm, caring approach and clear explanations. The childminder praises children for their achievements. She displays children's artwork, which helps them to develop a good sense of self-esteem and accomplishment. The childminder encourages children to be independent and to take care of their own personal needs. They independently feed themselves and are encouraged to wash their hands at appropriate times during the day. Children have daily opportunities to spend time outside in the childminder's garden or at nearby parks and they go for walks in the community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children show enthusiasm for learning and are keen to join in. They respond with eagerness to each activity that the childminder suggests. For example, children readily sit together for story time and creative activities. Children show a real interest in letters of the alphabet and the sounds they represent. Children enjoy physical activity and learn to move their bodies creatively to songs and rhymes that they sing. Children are developing skills in readiness for their future learning and their eventual move on to school.
