This provision is good
The childminder provides a relaxed and homely environment where children develop a positive sense of belonging. She is sensitive to their individual needs and offers close support to help them settle. Children enjoy the toys and resources available to them and make independent choices in their play. They explore the environment with confidence. Reviews of children's progress are accurate and precise and help the childminder to move children on in their learning. She consistently shares and discusses this information with parents. The childminder reflects on her practice so that she can develop and implement ideas for improvement. She demonstrates a positive attitude to training that helps to enhance the learning experiences for children in her care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently encourage parents to share information about what they know their children can already do when they first start. The childminder does not always consider all opportunities to develop young children's counting skills and enhance their newly found skills for grouping and sorting objects.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder throughout the inspection about her practice and children's learning and development. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands how to report any concerns she may have to the appropriate authorities. She attends regular safeguarding training to refresh her knowledge and remain aware of all current legislation in relation to childcare. The childminder networks well with other childminders to provide a range of joint activities for the children in their care and to share knowledge and good practice. Parents speak very highly of the childminder through written communication. Parents welcome the daily photographs and feedback about their children. They feel that the childminder is extremely organised and efficient. Children enjoy the amazing activities and feel the childminder is kind.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children in their play and plans activities she knows they will enjoy. She provides good support to children as they play and consistently talks to them to help build their vocabulary and language skills. Children enjoy looking at books with the childminder. She asks appropriate questions to encourage thinking skills and promotes discussion about what children can see on the page. Young children explore and investigate objects and materials. They enjoy using bowls and spoons to scoop, pour and fill containers with paper snow. The childminder works effectively with parents and other professionals to promote continuity of care and learning, overall.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are very comfortable and happy with the childminder. They behave well. The childminder is very calm and gently reminds children of good behaviours, such as saying 'please' and 'thank you'. Children settle quickly and show good familiarity with house rules and the routines of the day. For example, children help to tidy away toys before playing with something new, helping them to gain a sense of responsibility. The childminder meets children's care needs well. She ensures she is vigilant with regard to assessing risks in the children's environment, especially for children who have specific medical needs. The childminder provides children with good opportunities to be physically active in her garden and on regular walks and trips to the park.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points and are learning essential skills in preparation for starting pre-school or school. Children are independent. They learn to be sociable and make friends. Children enjoy spending time with other children and meeting new people at groups they attend and places of interest they visit.
