This provision is good
The childminder provides a stimulating environment with a good range of resources, which she uses to successfully support children's learning. Children are well engaged, motivated and eager to learn. They make good progress in their development. The childminder supports children’s healthy lifestyles successfully. They enjoy regular outdoor play and walks, and learn good personal hygiene routines. Children benefit from sociable mealtimes where they enjoy healthy and nutritious meals together. The childminder has strong bonds with the children. She has an extensive knowledge of their care routines and is tuned into their needs. Children are well cared for. The childminder helps to support children's social skills and confidence. For example, she attends local groups with the children and plans trips to places of interest and within the local community.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although the childminder maintains consistently good standards, she does not use her evaluation process well enough to identify how she can raise the quality of her provision to an even higher level. The childminder does not fully encourage parents to contribute information about their children's achievements at home to strengthen the shared approach to supporting their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises. The inspector observed activities, assessed the quality of teaching and the impact of this on children's progress. The inspector spoke to the children throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. She looked at records and documentation, including evidence of the suitability of adult household members. The inspector took account of parents' views and comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a strong understanding of her role and responsibilities to protect children and keep them safe. For example, she is confident in recognising the signs that a child may be at risk and secure in the procedures to follow should she have any concerns. The childminder uses risk assessments well to ensure her home and garden are safe. Feedback from parents shows they highly value the care and education that the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are keen and active learners. The childminder effectively engages in children's play to extend their learning. For instance, she uses children's interest in card games to help them recognise and name different colours, as well as matching objects. The childminder helps support children to explore making marks, such as using various tools in dough and looking for the changes. Children develop their communication and language skills well. For example, the childminder makes strong use of repetition to support children with the correct pronunciation of words. The children thoroughly enjoy cooking. They count cakes and decide who will have which cake and how many they need to take home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder meets the individual needs of children well. She is affectionate towards them and children enjoy her cuddles and reassurance. Children develop good independence skills, such as how to use cutlery well. The childminder talks to children about what they are going to do next and prepares them for change. This helps them develop a good understanding of the daily routines and to feel secure. Children develop increasing self-esteem and awareness. They show pleasure when they hear their names and pride when they achieve. For example, they complete a game and celebrate with the childminder in a gleeful 'high five'.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good skills to prepare them for future learning and in readiness for school. All children make good progress from their starting points in learning. Children remain motivated and interested in activities for very long periods. They set high expectations for themselves. For instance, children really persevere with tasks until they complete them to their satisfaction. Children use mathematical language spontaneously in their play. For example, they talk about the length of time needed for the chocolate to melt and then to go solid again in the fridge.
