p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
One young person has lived in this home since it was re-registered 18 months ago. In that time, and specifically since the last inspection, he has made very good progress. He is doing especially well with his education. This includes academic subjects, alternative education awards, and work experience. His tutor commented on his progress stating: ‘He is much more focused, less disjointed. He understands the importance of education in his development. He is doing fantastically. He has really come on in leaps and bounds.’
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person takes more pride in his appearance. He has lost a significant amount of weight through physical exercise and improved eating habits. He continues to work hard on his personal hygiene. This helps to improve his confidence and self-esteem. Inspection report children’s home: SC462149 2 The young person is preparing to move to semi-independent supported accommodation early next year. This move has stalled on several occasions, through no fault of his or the home, and he has coped with these disappointments very well. Staff have steadfastly challenged the agencies and professionals involved in his transition who have failed to act effectively or in a timely manner. Staff continue to support him to learn independence skills. A detailed independence tracker monitors the progress he is making in areas including shopping, healthy living, cleaning, cooking, and managing finances.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person recognises that living in this home has had a positive effect on his life, and acknowledges the impact of staff and the manager on his development. His progress owes much to the stability of the staff team, their consistent practice, and their dedication to improving his life chances. The consistency of staff also underpins the improvements in his behaviour. The team’s unswerving approach to his behaviour provides the boundaries and sense of discipline that have helped him to improve his interactions with others. He is now more able to reflect on his behaviour and understands the importance of positive relationships. The number of incidents of challenging behaviour has dramatically reduced.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person’s progress is recorded and monitored, and a weekly summary report is produced. Monitoring by the independent visitor and the manager’s own monitoring scrutinise all aspects of service delivery, including staffing and the young person’s progress. A good home improvement plan identifies focus areas for development. Progress in these areas is recorded monthly, with photographs and reports providing evidence of achievements.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff work in partnership with others including education staff, fitness trainers, and health specialists to help the young person progress. Staff continue to learn from partnership working. They also receive training in topics such as health and safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, medication, fire safety and restorative justice.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Two requirements were made at the last inspection. These related to shortfalls in the management of allegations. The shortfalls were swiftly rectified, and discussions at staff meetings have ensured learning for all staff. No requirements or recommendations are made at this inspection.
