This provision is good
The childminder has high expectations of herself. She constantly reviews her provision to ensure she provides good-quality learning and care for children. The childminder promotes children's learning well and plans effectively for every child's individual needs. She includes good levels of challenge to help them develop a wide range of skills in all areas of learning. The childminder carries out regular observations and assessments of children's development. She makes good use of the information to plan for their further learning so that children make consistently good progress. Children are happy and confident. They form strong relationships with the childminder and ask for help when they need her support. Children behave extremely well. They know the routines and willingly follow the childminder's example to tidy resources away after play. Parents comment positively on the caring environment in which children learn and play.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at documentation required for the efficient running of the childminder's provision. The inspector spoke with parents, and read written feedback from other parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows what to do should she have concerns about a child in her care or if there were allegations made against herself. The childminder maintains her professional development, such as through regular networking opportunities. She receives support from the local authority and makes good use of their guidance to improve her practice. The childminder has revised the methods she uses to assess and record children's development. As a result, she is able to identify children's achievements and to support their learning and progress. Parents say that the childminder provides a wide range of activities and prepares children well for school.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and plans effectively for their learning. Good levels of challenge contribute towards children's learning. For example, she encourages younger children to name shapes and models positional language for older children. She then encourages them to add other words to demonstrate their competent use of these within different contexts. Children have opportunities to express their creativity. They discuss ideas to decorate their Christmas tree and independently select items from the wealth of resources. The childminder maintains a flow of conversation and skilfully questions children to promote their thinking skills. Regular observations and assessments help the childminder to accurately identify what children can do. She works consistently with parents and they provide similar activities in her provision and at home to maintain continuity in children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop good personal skills. They play in a disciplined manner and maintain concentration even when the childminder is not directly involved in their activity. Children often approach the childminder to share what they do. She engages them in conversation and listens while they explain how parents might react to their final creative work. Children are free and comfortable in the childminder's homely environment. They smile, hop, and jump often to express their strong sense of emotional well-being. Children develop good independence skills. They help the childminder to clear away after activities and routines, including lunch. They enjoy balanced meals and snacks and have opportunities to rest after lunch.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their development. They explore the environment and confidently select from the available resources. Children satisfy their natural curiosity while they examine and test toys. Children enjoy imaginative play and demonstrate an understanding of the world while they simulate animal sounds. They take turns, share and treat other children with respect. Children develop the skills they need to move on to nursery and school, ensuring they are able to maintain their progress.
