This provision is good
The childminder forms secure and warm relationships with children and this supports their emotional well-being. Children display good levels of confidence and are happy to learn and explore. Children independently access a range of well-organised resources. They freely explore the environment and make choices in their play. The childminder balances the range of child-initiated and adult-led activities well. Children make good progress. Children behave well. The childminder recognises their achievements and encourages them to use manners. Children are cooperative and confidently join in the activities. The childminder has a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to keep children safe. She is confident about the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder supports children's health well. Children follow good hygiene practices and engage in activities that encourage their physical health and well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
While there are links with some of the provisions the children attend, the childminder has not established highly successful arrangements to make sure information about children's learning and development is regularly shared. The childminder does not always take account of the views of the children when deciding what could be improved at the setting.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

strengthen relationships with other providers in order to share information about children's learning and development provide more opportunities to review and act upon the suggestions and ideas of the children.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the impact of teaching on children's learning indoors. The inspector looked at a sample of records and discussed planning, children's assessments and their welfare with the childminder. The inspector checked the childminder's qualifications and records of her suitability checks. The inspector took account of the views of parents, provided in their written feedback to the childminder for the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder successfully maintains policies, procedures and required documents for the safe and efficient running of her provision. She has good relationships with parents. She shares information and engages them well in supporting their children's progress. The childminder continues to review her practice. For example, she constantly reviews the resources she provides to support children's learning and explorations. She monitors children's progress and identifies their next steps in learning well. She has found effective ways to improve her tracking systems to identify gaps in learning quickly. The childminder is committed to improving her practice and has undertaken further training to support this.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn through play. She provides a good variety of activities and experiences to support children's learning and development. Children respond to the childminder's frequent interactions and questions. For example, she encourages them to think and solve problems by exploring the best way to stick eyes and legs on a paper-plate sea creature they are making. Children persevere because the childminder guides and helps them to succeed. The childminder introduces language well to support children's actions. She repeats words back to enable them to hear them clearly. This supports their language skills and develops their understanding well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming, homely environment. Effective settling-in procedures ensure that children form attachments with the childminder. Children are happy, confident, self-assured and demonstrate a strong sense of belonging. The childminder helps children learn to manage their behaviour and sets clear boundaries and rules. Children behave very well and show respect and kindness for others. The childminder helps children develop an understanding of healthy lifestyles. The snacks and meals offered are nutritious and varied, and the childminder ensures children participate in physical activity each day. The childminder successfully supports children's understanding of how to keep themselves safe, for instance, when they walk to collect the older children from school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and learn a range of skills to prepare them for their future learning and move to school. Younger children show increasing concentration, independence and confidence. They develop well socially and emotionally, and play and learn together, sharing resources and activities well under the expert guidance of the childminder.
