This provision is good
The childminder provides a very welcoming and inclusive setting. She spends time getting to know children and their parents prior to them starting. This means she can meet individual children's needs, right from the start. Children are keen to learn. The childminder observes children as they play and ensures the resources and planned activities are well matched to their interests. The childminder makes good use of amenities in the local area. She takes children to regular events at the library and local groups. Children have opportunities to socialise and make new friends with other children in their own community. The childminder builds very strong partnerships with parents and has developed comprehensive and robust ways to share information. This results in children's learning and development being really well supported between home and the setting. Children have many opportunities to develop their physical skills. They are confident

when taking on new challenges, for example, playing on climbing equipment during their frequent visits to the local park. Children enjoy their time with the childminder. They demonstrate a sense of belonging in the setting which strongly supports their emotional well-being.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and evaluated the impact of this on children's learning. The inspector looked at a selection of documents, including policies and children's learning and development records. The inspector discussed planned activities with the childminder. The inspector looked at evidence of the childminder's suitability to work with children, as well as the suitability of the adults living in her household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder evaluates the quality of her setting regularly and effectively. She actively seeks the views of children and parents and values their contributions. She uses all this information to prioritise and plan future improvements in her setting. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is very knowledgeable about current safeguarding concerns. She accesses relevant training, for example, about the 'Prevent' duty guidance. She knows the different signs that may cause her to be worried about a child's safety and welfare. The childminder understands her responsibilities and the actions to take if she has any concerns about children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children experience a broad range of activities that is appropriate to their stage of development. Parents are asked about their child's learning and development as part of induction so that the childminder can accurately identify children's starting points. She plans resources and activities that will effectively support children's progress over time. The childminder has strong teaching skills. She responds to children's needs and ideas in a playful and positive manner. She uses many opportunities to encourage children to solve problems. For example, children explore different ways to keep a number of toy trains moving together on a track. They show great determination and are not put off when their ideas do not always work. They are delighted when they manage to achieve the outcome they want.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is kind and respectful of children's needs. Children respond in a very positive manner and show great affection for the childminder. Their behaviour is good and they care for the resources in the setting. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles. She provides children with healthy snacks and there are opportunities to play outside every day. Children learn about different communities beyond their immediate experiences. They learn to respect the similarities and differences between themselves and others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children acquire the key skills they need to support them as effective learners. Their communication and language is good and they can effectively express their thoughts and ideas to others. They have a good knowledge of numbers and shapes, which supports their early mathematical development and understanding of the world. Children are confident to make choices, 'have a go' and will persevere to achieve the result they want. They make good progress from their starting points and any gaps in their learning are closing swiftly. Children are well prepared for new and exciting challenges as they move on to the next stage in their learning, including school.
