This provision is good
Children enjoy spending time with the childminder. They build strong relationships with her, for example, they snuggle in when they need comfort. She is calm, caring and kind, and supports their emotional development well. The childminder provides a welcoming learning environment. She has a good range of resources to help her support children's learning and development. The childminder continues to update her childcare skills and knowledge, for instance, through attending training, and sharing ideas and good practice with other childminders. The childminder assesses the progress children make, such as by making regular and accurate observations of their learning and development. She plans activities to help support children's next steps in their learning. Children make good overall progress from their starting points. Parents are very happy with the care the childminder provides. She asks for their views

and opinions to help her reflect on her practice.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder completes tasks for children that they could manage themselves and does not fully support their growing independence skills. The childminder does not always gather and use information from parents about their children's progress or experiences at home to enhance her activity planning.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children as they played, listened to their interactions and talked with them at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of children's play, learning and progress. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's records and evidence of suitability checks. The inspector spoke to parents available on the day of inspection and took note of parents' written views. The inspector viewed the areas of the house used for the care of children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is knowledgeable and confident in her ability to promote children's welfare. She knows what actions to take if she has any concerns. The childminder also uses tools, such as risk assessments, effectively to help keep children safe in her learning environment and when going on outings. Children have opportunities to learn about the wider world and meet different people when they visit the local area. The childminder reflects on her practice to help identify areas for development and help maintain good experiences for children. For example, she has changed the way she stores resources for children to allow them easier access and greater choice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers information from parents when their children first start to help her establish starting points for children’s learning. She makes plans to have children's favourite toys easily available when they first start to help engage them in their play. Children are confident and settled with the childminder. The childminder supports children's communication development well. For example, she encourages children to make verbal choices and she clearly repeats back what they say. Children enjoy opportunities to develop their physical skills, such as moving in different ways across the room and visiting local play parks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model for children. She calmly and consistently encourages positive behaviour and children behave well. The childminder knows what children like to play with and she uses this knowledge to provide an interesting range of activities and resources. For example, as children enjoy playing with dolls, she uses these to support children's understanding of daily routines. The childminder encourages children to develop healthy lifestyles, for example, as they wash their hands before eating nutritious snacks. The childminder teaches children about safety, for instance using simple rules that she clearly explains.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and motivated to join in with activities. They engage happily in their play and exploration of different resources. They develop good mathematical skills, such as counting spider's legs and comparing them to their own number of legs. Children enjoy looking at books and learn how to turn the pages. They learn to recognise their written name as they attach their names on a welcome board. Children learn about taking turns and sharing resources. They develop many skills that will support them as they move on to school.
