This provision is good
The childminder supports children's personal, social and emotional development well. Children demonstrate their positive attitude to learning and enjoy copying what the childminder says and does. Children have very good opportunities to learn about how to keep themselves safe. They show their very clear understanding of how to behave safely when out walking with the childminder. The childminder has effective partnerships with parents. She makes sure she shares appropriate information with parents and other professionals to support children's continued progress. She keeps parents up to date with what they can do to support learning at home. The childminder uses her observations of children's play to assess their development and to guide her on how to help them make the next steps in their learning. The childminder gathers useful feedback from parents about her service and uses this to help her decide on possible improvements.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children time to think and respond to her questions during play. The childminder has not focused her professional development on raising the quality of teaching to an even higher level.

extend the opportunities for children to think through their ideas and to answer questions enhance professional development, focusing more specifically on building knowledge to support the already good teaching.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed an adult-led activity and evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a very thorough understanding of child protection procedures. She keeps up to date with training on safeguarding to help her protect children in her care. The childminder takes a very responsible attitude to risk assessing the environment, making sure that hazards to children are minimised. She works closely with other early years settings that children attend, sharing information to support continuity in children's learning and care. The childminder carefully monitors and assesses children's progress and plans for their further development, helping to close any gaps in their learning. The childminder is using self- evaluation well to identify aspects of her practice to improve and to help her develop her service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides children with plenty of supported free play. Children organise the skittles, beginning to set them up ready to knock them over. When children encounter a problem in making them stand they immediately seek out the childminder for support. Children welcome the childminder's enthusiastic participation in their play. She knows children well and understands how to use their interests to help them learn. She captures their attention with an activity using different natural materials. She helps children to recall their nature walks and a trip to the seaside. This inspires children and they become very involved in exploring the materials. They use their good speaking and listening skills to share their memories with one another.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model for children. She helps them to learn how to behave well, share with each other and take turns. Children's emotional well-being is a high priority for the childminder and they show a very strong attachment to her. They follow a regular routine for eating and sleeping to help them keep healthy and well. Children enjoy experiences in the local community, making friends and exploring the local area. They have daily opportunities for playing outside in the fresh air and particularly enjoy the regular walks where they greet neighbours out walking their dogs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress from their initial starting points. They are generally achieving what is expected of them for their age. Children have high levels of independence and enjoy doing things for themselves. They learn the skills they need to support them when they enter school. Children practise their phonics, working on learning the letter sounds to support reading and writing. Children are confident and happy to share their learning with others.
