This provision is good
The childminder reflects on her provision and practice well. She makes changes that meet children's needs and interests. Children are motivated and eager to try out different experiences. The childminder is an excellent role model for the children. She offers praise for when they show care and consideration for others, letting children know exactly what she is pleased about. Children have tremendous respect for others and their behaviour is extremely good. The childminder has effective relationships with parents and others who care for the children. She shares information with them regularly about their children. Children benefit from consistent experiences with the childminder, at other settings and at home. The childminder explores different ways to extend her skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities. Recent training has supported her in developing the range of toys and activities she provides for children to explore nature

and extend their sensory play experiences.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not allow children the time they need to think about responses, or develop their ideas when she asks questions. The childminder sometimes suggests alternative activities for children before they have completed the ones they have chosen.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

give children the time they need to respond to questions and in ways that support them to develop their ideas and thoughts provide children with the time and opportunity to complete activities to their own satisfaction.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of experiences and activities for children indoors. The inspector took into account the views of parents spoken to on the day and through written testimonials. The inspector carried out a joint evaluation of the activities provided, with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at samples of paperwork, including risk assessments, policies and procedures, and the childminder's evaluations.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has made changes to her provision since her last inspection to ensure she can continue to meet children's needs successfully. She has reviewed the play materials and makes sure these offer variety and meet children's needs and interests well. She seeks the views of parents and children to make changes and provide new experiences. For example, to meet children's interests in making models, she provided children with sand that sticks together, similar to dough, to offer an alternative sensory experience. The childminder keeps her knowledge up to date through appropriate professional development opportunities. For example, recent training about vulnerable children has supported her understanding of how to keep all children safe. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows how to act on concerns about the welfare of a child.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children tell the childminder what they have done at school and talk about what they want to do with the childminder. The childminder helps to ensure that children are motivated and engaged in the activities provided. Children eagerly explore sand and put it into moulds to create dinosaurs and point out different features, such as the head, teeth and legs. Children make up stories as they play. For example, they pretend to be treasure hunters by hiding plastic skeletons in the sand, then using a toy axe to 'excavate' them. Children explore the musical instruments with the childminder. They sing a nursery rhyme together and include different characters so that not only the mouse, but a crocodile, kangaroo and pig climb the clock. The childminder supports them well as they use the beater to 'strike' the hours of the clock on the xylophone and count up to eight.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children play extremely well together, sharing toys and taking turns without prompts from the childminder. For example, older children ask whether others have finished with the toy axe and patiently wait their turn. When children receive or give toys to others they demonstrate exceptional manners, saying 'please' and 'thank you'. Children cooperate exceptionally well during imaginative games. For example, they take turns with the 'magic' wand and pretend to turn each other into different animals and objects. They show extraordinary creativity as they pretend they have been turned into a door, and use their arm as the handle. They jump using their feet and hands as they become a frog, or sit on the floor with outstretched legs to be a chair. The childminder supports children's understanding and respect for others. For example, children enjoy outings to find out about others through books in the library or exhibits in the museum, and they explore
