This provision is good
The childminder has successfully addressed all of the actions raised at the last inspection. She has used her relationships with other early years providers and regular sharing of information, including children's progress, achievements and future learning opportunities, to successfully promote continued learning between settings. The childminder accesses various professional development opportunities to broaden her knowledge in the childcare field, such as looking at ways of assessing and supporting children's language development. Observations, assessments and planning for children's individual learning needs, taking into account what they already know, successfully supports their ongoing learning and development. Children make good progress in their personal, social and emotional development. They are happy, settled and emotionally secure in the childminder's care. The childminder meets children's individual care needs throughout the day. Children

rest and sleep according to their needs, enabling them to recharge their energy levels.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
While the childminder shares children's progress with their parents, she has not fully explored ways of engaging parents and continuing their child's learning at home. Although children learn about different traditions and cultural celebrations, developing their understanding of the world and opportunities for them to learn about other people, such as those with disability are not yet established.

review procedures for engaging parents in continuing their child's learning at home enhance opportunities for children to learn about similarities and differences between themselves and others, including disability.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities inside the childminder's home and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including the childminder's training certificates and the suitability of adults living in the household. The inspector spoke to parents and took account of their written views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Children play in a safe and secure environment. They learn about their own safety and regularly practise the fire evacuation drill. The childminder is fully aware of the signs of harm and neglect, and the procedures to follow to protect children. She ensures all adults living in the home complete all necessary suitability checks. The childminder monitors every aspect of her provision and seeks the views of parents and children to help inform her processes for evaluation. Parents speak positively about the care and learning opportunities the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes good use of her ongoing observations and assessments of children's learning to clearly focus on their future learning needs. She successfully supports children's language and communication skills. For example, she repeats single words that younger children say, and skilfully asks older children questions to encourage their thinking and support their language extension. Children enjoy books. The childminder encourages children to recall favourite stories. For example, they recognise the different fruit a young child collects during a walk only to find different animals have eaten them out of her basket. Children recall which animals have eaten them and recreate their own pictures of the fruit using different materials.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder ensures settling-in sessions meet the needs of the children and their parents. She gathers detailed information from parents about their child's routines and what they can do, using the information to plan effectively from the start. The childminder provides healthy drinks and snacks, and encourages children's understanding about foods that are good for them. Children are very active and spend time outdoors each day. The childminder recognises children's efforts and achievements, and gives lots of praise and encouragement.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and develop the skills for future learning in readiness for their move on to school. They confidently choose toys to play with and follow their interests. Children enjoy being creative. They show perseverance when they learn new skills, such as cutting different materials with scissors. Children are becoming independent in their self-care and personal hygiene routines. They recognise when they are becoming hot and remove their cardigans, hanging them up on a peg until they need them again.
