This provision is good
The manager communicates high expectations to practitioners and parents. Well- qualified practitioners are friendly and professional. Effective induction and supervision of practitioners ensure they continue to be suitable to work with children. Practitioners are skilled at enhancing children's self-chosen play. They prepare the environment effectively so children have full access to a range of resources. Children show good levels of engagement in activities of their choosing and make good progress. Children have high levels of independence and develop very good self-help skills. Practitioners use snack time effectively to help children to gain these skills and to learn about healthy eating. Practitioners are warm and caring. All children develop strong relationships with them. Children feel secure and settle quickly at the start of the session. They behave well, know the routines and join in with tasks, such as tidying away after activities.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with practitioners and children during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the nursery manager. The inspector held a meeting with the nursery manager. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of practitioners working in the nursery. The inspector spoke with a number of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The lead practitioner for safeguarding understands her role to protect children and supports other practitioners to report concerns about children's welfare. They are confident to identify vulnerable children and are aware of the procedures to follow. Leaders ensure that rigorous recruitment and induction procedures are followed to protect the welfare of children. Effective risk assessments support practitioners well to provide a safe environment. The practitioners work very well as a team. Additional funding is used extremely effectively to give children rich experiences to help close any gaps in their learning and development. The manager monitors the progress made by different groups of children and reviews the nursery's provision to identify areas for development. Parents are very happy with the service provided.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Practitioners know the children very well. They provide activities that interest and excite them. Practitioners encourage children to be curious, such as when they explore blocks of ice and guess what is inside them. Practitioners make use of different ways of teaching to support all children to make good progress. They collect information about children's current achievements when they start and use this information to start assessing their progress. They undertake detailed observations and assessments of children's learning. Practitioners purposefully engage with children down at their level. This helps to focus children's attention and supports their concentration. Children are developing key skills in literacy. For example, they can identify the letters in their name and enjoy listening to stories. Practitioners help children to develop an understanding of the wider world through fun and interesting activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
A strong key-person system helps children to settle quickly. The well-planned outdoor area offers children lots of scope to practise their physical skills with growing confidence, and to develop a good awareness of how to play safely. Children learn to behave well and manage their own feelings. For example, practitioners support them to take turns and listen to one another when choosing songs to sing at group time. Children enjoy healthy snacks and have plenty of fresh air and space to move and run around. They follow good hygiene routines and learn about the benefits of healthy eating and exercise. Practitioners work in partnership with parents to make sure that the food children bring in their packed lunches is well balanced and nutritious.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in all areas of their learning and development. They become confident, independent learners. Children demonstrate independence in managing their self-care, such as blowing their own nose and taking themselves to the toilet. They are developing a strong love of stories and rhymes to support their literacy skills. Children learn new words as they enjoy singing enthusiastically together. They develop the skills they need for their future learning and the eventual move on to school.
