The childminder keeps up to date with her professional development. This helps her to offer effective support to children and parents, overall. The childminder, generally, has a good understanding of how children learn. She plans effectively to provide stimulating activities indoors and outside in the garden. The childminder uses various methods to promote children's sensory learning and language skills. Children are developing good independence skills. The childminder encourages them to make choices during all activities and routines. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. They enjoy nutritious meals and play outside daily. their child's learning. The childminder and parents have a shared understanding of what children need to move them on to the next level of their development.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder is not always alert to children's concentration span. She does not consistently reshape activities to hold their attention. Sometimes, the childminder does not make the best use of resources to fully support children's learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at documentation and records required for the efficient running of the childminder's setting. The inspector observed teaching and learning activities indoors and outside, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. The inspector spoke with children during the inspection. The inspector read written feedback from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the types of abuse and neglect. She understands the procedures for reporting concerns she might have about any child in her care. The childminder is keen to maintain up-to-date knowledge of early years matters. She meets regularly with other professionals and attends training courses. She has used her newly acquired knowledge to plan 'risky play' that helps children learn to maintain their safety during activities. Parents express high levels of satisfaction with the service they receive. They say that the childminder is very flexible and accommodating and maintains open communication with them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses a wide range of methods to promote children's sensory development. For example, children have opportunities to feel the textures of fruit and they listen to sounds when the childminder shakes coconuts. She skilfully extends their learning and provides enjoyable experiences during outside play. For example, she uses equipment to create bubbles. Children giggle as they look up at the multicoloured bubbles and excitedly attempt to catch them. The childminder introduces counting during water play and demonstrates how to use brushes for painting on flagstones. She carries out regular observations while children play and makes use of the information to plan for further learning. Accurate assessments and regular tracking are in place to help the childminder promote every child's learning and good progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are developing good independence skills. They feed themselves with finger foods and hold out their arms to put on coats for outside play. The childminder gives lots of praise for effort and this helps to raise their self-esteem. Children are fully at ease in the homely environment. They sit and babble while exploring toys. Children develop good self- awareness. The childminder encourages them to look at their reflection in mirrors and they demonstrate recognition with smiles and pointing. Children have opportunities to sleep after lunch and to recharge their energy levels in preparation for afternoon activities. They regularly attend groups away from the childminder's home and learn to mix with other children. This helps them to gain an understanding of the wider community. Children behave well. They follows simple instructions correctly.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
High-quality teaching and a nurturing environment effectively support children in their learning. They make good progress and achieve the typical level of development for their age. Children develop good understanding while they listen to stories. They gain social skills when they mix in large groups and while playing at the childminder's home. They are developing essential skills in preparation for learning at nursery and school.
