This provision is good
The childminder provides parents with good information about her role and responsibilities. This helps them to understand what to expect concerning their children's care and education. The information also informs parents of the important part they play in helping her to ensure she meets their children's learning and development needs effectively. The childminder focuses well on helping children to expand and refine their vocabulary. She uses good language, encourages children to talk about what they are doing and sensitively corrects their pronunciation. Parents are encouraged to visit the childminder and remain with their children for short periods. The childminder gradually extends these visits until parents are confident their children are settled and happy to be in the childminder's care. This supports children's emotional development successfully. The childminder talks confidently about what children can do and what they need to

Assessments of children's progress are accurate. The childminder identifies any gaps in children's learning and effectively plans for their individual learning needs and interests. Children are active learners who freely explore the resources on offer and eagerly join in activities suggested by the childminder. Children respond positively to the childminder's support and guidance as she demonstrates how to do things, offers ideas and uses clear instructions. Children use a variety of resources to make a model of a skyrocket. The childminder introduces size, colour and shape as she encourages them to choose the items they want to use. The childminder makes good use of the local community to widen children's experiences and extend their learning. They develop the confidence to make friends, learn how to cooperate with others and behave well. Children benefit from activities that help to promote a positive attitude to fresh air and exercise. They walk around farms, visit soft-play areas and use tools to prepare soil for planting seeds. Children have a vote on what meals and snacks they would like and are encouraged to make healthy choices. This helps children to understand the importance of eating healthily.
