This provision is good
The childminder skilfully supports children's communication skills. For example, she asks questions to help children use their developing language, such as their favourite colours and what they would like to eat. Children make good progress from their starting points. Children's personal and emotional development is well supported. Practical activities help children to understand their own needs and the needs of their friends. For example, they know to tidy away toys to prevent accidents. The childminder keeps her home safe and the children move around with confidence. Children make their own choices, for example, when deciding what they would like to play with. Partnerships with parents are successful and help the childminder to meet the needs of the children effectively. The childminder shares relevant information with parents and together, they help to ensure consistent welfare and learning experiences for the

It is not yet outstanding because:
Children have few opportunities to strengthen their understanding of mathematical concepts during their play to help build on their skills. The childminder's evaluation systems are in the developing stages and do not currently include parents' and children's suggestions to help improve her service even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector discussed how the childminder has met the actions set at the last inspection. The inspector looked at the rooms and resources children use. The inspector examined documentation and discussed the systems the childminder uses to observe and record children's progress. The inspector discussed how the childminder evaluates her service and her priorities for improvement. The inspector observed children's play and their conversations with the childminder in the indoor environment.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has successfully addressed the areas for improvement identified at the last inspection. For example, she has developed good systems for risk assessing her home and keeps a daily record of attendance. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands her responsibilities towards child protection. She knows how to recognise the signs and symptoms that may alert her to any welfare concerns and how to report these concerns. The childminder is developing her system of evaluation to benefit children. For example, she shares practice ideas with other childminders and seeks suitable training opportunities to ensure she remains up to date with her childcare knowledge. The childminder knows the children well and uses her observations and assessments to assess their progress. Her positive teaching skills and planning help to close any identified gaps in learning so children quickly catch up.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her good knowledge of the children's interests and how they like to learn to organise activities that encourage them to enjoy their learning. For example, she knows the children like messy play and arranges a cornflour activity. She talks to children about making the mixture, asking them to make choices about the colours they want to add. The childminder enhances the activity by providing resources such as jugs and sieves to develop children's physical skills. Children listen and understand how to make choices. For example, they think carefully about the fruit they would like at snack time and tell the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are secure in the care of the childminder, who is sensitive to their needs and meets them well. For example, she offers cuddles and comforting words when children are feeling less sure of themselves. The childminder uses good levels of praise and encouragement to help children to feel confident in their own abilities. She helps children to manage their own behaviour and helps them to understand how some actions and words can hurt others' feelings. The childminder helps the children to understand about healthy lifestyles. For example, children choose fruit at snack time and enjoy walks in the fresh air.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop useful skills to assist them in their next steps in learning. They make good progress from their starting points. Children learn how to share and take turns. They develop skills of independence in preparation for starting school. Children enjoy looking at books and are fascinated by the shapes of letters and how they are formed. The children talk about the letters in their name and look for them in books.
