This provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of children in her care. She uses information gathered through observing and assessing children's play, to recognise achievements and what they need to learn next. She uses this understanding to provide activities and opportunities that support children to make good progress in their learning and development. Children build secure attachments with the childminder. They are treated with warmth, kindness and patience. This helps them to feel safe and emotionally secure. Strong partnerships with parents are in place. Parents are complimentary about the childminder and the care and teaching she provides. They are especially pleased with how happy their children are in her care and the way in which the childminder communicates with them. The childminder encourages parents to share learning that has happened at home and she builds upon this in her setting. The childminder uses gentle encouragement and positive approaches to manage

behaviour. She consistently gives praise and supports children to resolve any conflict themselves. Children are well behaved and helpful. They help to tidy up the toys and carry out instructions well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently take all opportunities to further promote young children's speaking skills. The childminder has not established a highly focused programme of professional development to drive forward future improvements.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through the written feedback provided. The inspector spoke to children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to protect children from harm and what action to take should she have any concerns about their welfare. She has a good understanding of how to keep the environment safe and considers potential hazards in her home and on outings. Overall, the childminder reflects well upon her service and the activities that she provides for children. She has attended some training that has helped to improve her knowledge and understanding, and improve outcomes for children. For example, she attended a course on supporting children to deal with their emotions. She keeps parents regularly informed of their child's progress through a variety of ways. For example, she uses an online system to share their child's achievements. She also shares what learning she is focusing on next as well as writing monthly progress reviews.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy spending time in the garden, feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. They spend time engaged in creative activities, such as painting. They use a variety of different tools to make their own marks with paint while thinking about fireworks. This helps children to strengthen their small-muscle skills with their hands and supports them to manipulate a range of objects. The childminder gives children time to explore resources themselves. She encourages them to join in with actions when she sings nursery rhymes and shares favourite books with them. The childminder encourages parents to share children's development so far when they first start at the setting. This helps her to gain an in-depth picture of children's learning and plan appropriately to support children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming homely learning environment with a good range of toys and resources that is presented at children's height. This helps to give children freedom to make choices over their own play and promotes their independence. Children are encouraged to follow good hygiene routines and develop their self-care skills. For example, young children are encouraged to unzip their coats, feed themselves and practise cutting up their own fruit. They have regular exercise in the garden, parks and places in the community, such as walks in the forest. Children enjoy planting and caring for tomatoes and cucumbers in the garden. These experiences help them to learn about different foods and healthy lifestyles. Children's work is displayed which helps children to develop a sense of belonging and boosts their self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and have formed secure attachments to the childminder and her family. They develop confidence and have settled well. They learn about similarities and differences between themselves and others through their daily play and experiences. They learn about potential hazards and how to keep themselves safe. Children make good progress and develop the key skills they need in preparation for the next stages in their learning.
