It is not yet outstanding because:
Although children have opportunities for free play, the childminder can, on occasions, be over directive. Despite the childminder continually exchanging information with parents about children's care, she is less successful in helping support them to extend their learning at home.

She looked at relevant documentation and checked the suitability of persons living and working on the premises. The inspector took into account parents' views through written feedback provided.

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder recognises possible signs of abuse. She knows who to contact should she have cause for concern about the welfare of a child. When the childminder works with an assistant, she supports them effectively. She monitors and reviews their practice to improve and maintain the highest level. The childminder and assistants have completed all mandatory training. They keep up to date with new legislation. This helps to ensure that they have the necessary training and skills, so children benefit from their care. The childminder monitors children's progress well to ensure that any identified gaps in their learning are narrowing. The childminder regularly seeks the views of parents and children to help her to develop and improve. Parental feedback about the childminder is positive and they comment on her professionalism.
p.3

The childminder interacts positively with children. She encourages older children to talk about their experiences in detail and helps younger children to learn new words. For example, children recall special events over the half-term holiday and talk about Halloween. Children have free access to many toys and regularly and independently access them. They are confident of their own abilities and persist with activities to achieve the finished goal. Children preserve to complete a jigsaw puzzle as they fit the pieces together, working out which way they go and matching the colours. The childminder helps children to develop their hand-to-eye coordination. Children fill and empty various containers with tweezers from the well-resourced environment. They are learning about numbers and shapes. Children confidently count up to five and beyond and look at different-sized wheels, identifying that these are circles.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder takes time to gather information from parents on their children's specific interests, likes and dislikes. This helps to support their emotional well-being and contribute to them quickly settling into her provision. Children are very relaxed with the childminder and seek comfort from her when they are tired. They develop positive relationships with each other as they learn to share, take turns and be kind to each other. The childminder gives clear and consistent reminders of expectations, such as referring older children to the house rules which are displayed.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning and are making good progress. Children develop excellent self-care skills that enhance their independence. For example, they work together to tidy away toys and equipment. They independently get themselves ready for outdoor play, putting on their own shoes and coats. This helps them in the next stage of their learning, such as starting school. Children develop their social skills well. For instance, they regularly meet with other adults and children at various activities for young children in the community.
