The childminder provides children with a safe and well-resourced environment where they are happy and well cared for. She carefully considers how to continually develop her practice, taking into account the views of parents and children. Partnerships with parents are good. She encourages parents to view their children's learning journals so that they are aware of the good progress that their children make. Children develop close attachments to the childminder. She is clear about who to contact about concerns regarding the welfare of children in her care. The childminder embraces the support of her local authority. This helps her to provide children with a broad range of learning activities. The childminder interacts positively with children. She supports their communication skills very well. For example, she speaks slowly and clearly to children and offers new words to extend their growing vocabulary. Children have lots of opportunities to explore and investigate. Children initiate their own play experiences as they move freely around the childminder's garden. For example, they discover the fun that can be had jumping over different gradients. Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model for children. Children are happy and relaxed in her company. For instance, children laugh alongside the childminder as together they try and catch bubbles that are floating away in the air. The childminder praises children for their achievements which helps to promote their emotional well-being. Children confidently chat to visitors and willingly include them in their play. For example, children tell visitors the names of the toy animals that they are playing with. The childminder helps children to become independent. She encourages them to tell her when they are ready for their snack. Children have opportunities to mix with other children. They visit toddler groups and meet up with other childminder’s children. This helps to develop their social skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress from their initial starting points. They are confident, capable and show a great enthusiasm for learning.
