This provision is good
Children of all ages thrive in this warm and welcoming environment. The childminder is extremely kind, caring and friendly. Children form very close bonds with the childminder and their friends. The childminder evaluates her provision well. She requests written feedback from parents and children and reflects on this as part of her self-evaluation process. She uses this information well to set priorities for improvement to raise outcomes for children. Children are progressing in their learning. The childminder monitors their progress effectively and uses assessment information well to identify any emerging gaps in their progress and to prioritise next steps in their learning effectively. Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. She provides children with consistent praise and encouragement to support their confidence and self-esteem. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder is a good role model for children. She

teaches them to be kind, considerate and how to use good manners.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently encourage children to develop their early writing skills further. The childminder has not sharply focused her professional development on deepening her knowledge of how children learn, to drive her teaching to an even higher level.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' written comments and views. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and checked the suitability of the childminder and members of the household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the signs that a child may be at risk of harm. She knows what to do if she is concerned about a child's well-being. The childminder makes good use of risk assessments to ensure that her home and any outings children take part in are as safe as possible. The childminder builds good partnerships with parents, who report in written testimonials of their appreciation of the childcare service she provides. She gives parents daily feedback and keeps them involved in their children's progress, which helps to provide continuity in children's care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The experienced childminder organises her environment well so that children have opportunities to interact with a wide range of age-appropriate resources. The childminder interacts purposefully with children. For example, she gets down to children's level, joins in with their play and provides support when required. Children develop good communication and language skills. The childminder engages them in meaningful discussions, models clear vocabulary and links their play to real-life experiences to successfully build on these communication skills. She successfully supports children to develop their physical skills and hand-to-eye coordination. They enjoy posting shapes into shape sorters and stacking toys in sequence. The childminder supports younger children to develop their walking skills and responds to their actions and early attempts to communicate.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly and are happy to play. Settling-in sessions are effective in promoting children's emotional needs when they first start. The childminder provides children with plenty of opportunities to help them to learn about the importance of being healthy. For example, she provides healthy meals and snacks and ensures that children have plenty of fresh air and exercise. Children enjoy regular outings in the local community and benefit from attending a playgroup. These experiences support children's confidence and social skills away from the childminder's home.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are enthusiastic to learn and make good progress. They develop the skills they need for their eventual move on to school or the next stage in their learning. Children learn to value and respect others. For instance, the childminder uses toys and books and talks to children about the similarities and differences between themselves and others. Children follow simple instructions and complete simple tasks independently, such as helping to tidy the toys after play and getting dressed for outdoor play.
