This enables the childminder to rapidly support learning, through planned and purposeful play. The childminder completes detailed and meticulous visual risk assessments. This helps to ensure the environment is safe and potential hazards are minimised. The childminder understands how children learn. She provides a good mix of carefully planned adult-led activities and spontaneous learning opportunities. Children enjoy their play and make good progress. Children's behaviour is good. Children cooperate with each other, take turns and share. Friendships are evident and children learn how to respect each other. The childminder completes regular observations of children's achievements. She skilfully uses this information to identify children's next steps in learning and plan

The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector spoke with parents and took account of their comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of how to identify, record and report child protection concerns. This promotes children's safety and welfare. Self-evaluation procedures are strong. The childminder regularly gathers the views of parents, children and other professionals to help to identify clear and precise priorities to improve. This helps drive development and has a positive impact on the quality of service provided. The childminder is a motivated and passionate practitioner. She attends a wide variety of training to further develop her skills and knowledge. The childminder tracks children's progress to help her to identify and close gaps in learning. Effective monitoring supports children's continued development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder values children's choices and follows their interests during play. Consequently, children are motivated to learn. For example, children show an interest in dressing up and this is accommodated as they excitedly explore scarves and materials. The childminder plays alongside children and participates in their activities. She provides subtle suggestions to extend their learning. For instance, children are encouraged to recall details about the stories they listen to. This helps children to develop their early literacy skills, communication and imagination. The childminder supports children's mathematical development. Children are encouraged to frequently count objects, recognise shapes and identify numbers during play. For instance, children talk about the shapes of their eyes when looking at their reflection in mirrors.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and relaxed in the childminder's company. The childminder is highly sensitive to children's individual needs. She provides regular praise and reassuring cuddles. Positive relationships help to build children's confidence. Mealtimes are a social and enjoyable experience. Children laugh as they recount with excitement earlier events and activities. They enjoy spending time with the childminder and her family members. Children are emotionally secure. Children of all ages play harmoniously together. For example, older children help younger children to locate their drinking cup. Cooperation between peers contributes to children's social confidence, independence and self-esteem. The childminder recognises the value of being physically active. Children enjoy daily exercise as part of their everyday routines. For example, they enthusiastically dance and stretch to music, promoting physical health and coordination. The childminder teaches
