This provision is good
Children learn to be polite and they behave well. For example, they maturely follow rules and boundaries and understand what is expected of them. There are good opportunities for children to develop their early mathematical skills as they play. For example, they confidently count and complete simple sums. Children have good opportunities to develop their imagination. For instance, they engage in a wide range of role play, such as 'taking their babies for a walk'. The childminder closely monitors the consistency of care and learning experiences she provides for children. For example, she has regular meetings with her co-childminder to discuss their strengths and highlight any training needs. This helps to ensure she engages children in good learning experiences. Children have good opportunities to understand the importance of healthy eating. For instance, they are keen to prepare and try interesting foods, such as avocados.

This provision is good
There are good opportunities for children to develop their early writing skills to support their future learning. For example, they give meaning to marks they make.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to develop children's early letter recognition and reading skills fully to support their future learning further. The childminder misses some opportunities to extend children's understanding and respect for similarities and differences of people in the wider world.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home that children use. The inspector observed the childminder interacting with the children and assessed the impact on children's learning. The inspector sampled written documentation, such as children's progress reports, and policies and procedures. The inspector spoke to children and the childminder at convenient times.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder effectively evaluates her practice. For example, she carefully takes into consideration the views and ideas of children and parents, such as in daily discussions. The childminder uses feedback to help enhance her action plans. She is keen to build on her skills and knowledge even further. For example, she carries out regular independent reading and research and recently improved her understanding of different ways to interest children in mathematics. The childminder implements new ideas and this helps her to keep children motivated to learn. She establishes positive relationships with parents. For example, she regularly shares children's achievements and informs them about their children's day. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the safeguarding and child protection procedures to follow. She protects children's safety and welfare successfully and knows whom to contact to seek advice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder monitors children's individual progress closely. She promptly identifies any gaps in their development and provides them with individual support to help close gaps quickly. The childminder shares children's progress and achievements with other early years settings they attend. This helps provide children with a positive and consistent approach to their shared care and learning. The childminder helps prepare children effectively for their eventual move to school. For example, they learn to communicate with confidence, such as making up their own stories that they are keen to share with their friends. The childminder skilfully builds on children's ideas. For example, children enjoy a book about transport. She then encourages them to build their own large models of different types of transport, such as rockets.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder builds positive relationships with children, who develop a good level of well-being and self-esteem. They have good physical abilities. For example, they explore large climbing and balancing equipment during regular trips, such as climbing across rope bridges with confidence. Children develop meaningful friendships and gain positive social skills. They happily take turns and share resources with their friends in group activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children of all ages and abilities make good progress in relation to their individual starting points. They develop good independence and confidently choose their own play. Children learn to work things out well and begin to understand how things work. For example, they have a keen interest in technology, such as using programmable and remote-controlled equipment with confidence.
