and young people since the most recent full inspection
This home was judged adequate at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection the home was not judged.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home has not provided care or accommodation for children since October 2014. The registered provider has indicated that the home will not be operational for an indefinite period of time. Should the home decide to accept placements, it is required to inform Ofsted of its intention before it does so. It is a condition of the home’s registration that the registered provider must inform Ofsted of its intention to admit children three months before a placement commences.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Where a home does not have children living there, does not intend to take placements and plans to remain closed for some time, an interim inspection is undertaken and no judgement is made.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The provider has removed records, furniture and fittings from the premises for Inspection report children’s home: SC010762 2 safekeeping. A designated maintenance company visits the premises at regular intervals. This ensures that the home is clean, well maintained and suitable for registration. The property has been broken into since the last inspection. Appropriate action has been taken to increase security arrangements. Closed-circuit television cameras monitor the external area and secondary locks have been fitted to the windows. The lower front windows are also boarded up.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Health and safety arrangements are sufficient, as there are no children residing at the home. The certificate of registration and a valid employer’s liability insurance are on display. Fire alarm and emergency lighting checks are undertaken. A current certificate also confirms the safety of the gas supply. Prior to accommodating children, the provider would need to ensure that the premises fully meets health and safety requirements. This relates to the servicing of the fire safety equipment and the electrical installation.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
During the period of closure, an independent visitor has continued to visit the home. It is a regulatory requirement that visits are undertaken on a monthly basis. There appears to be a lapse in these visits, however, as the last report received was from a visit in July 2017. Ofsted relies on these reports to keep up to date on whether the home remains suitable to accommodate children.

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after. Inspection report children’s home: SC010762 3 This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
